In order to trade, you must fulfill a number of requirements: - Have a Thunder Badge (be a member for over a week and catch more than 20 Pokémon) - Purchase a Trade Pass at the Shop for 2,000. Once you have the Pass, go to the userpage of anyone you want to trade with, and click the Trade Pass icon - note it'll only appear if that person also has one. You can only trade one Pokémon at a time and, like in the games, the recipient must send a Pokémon in turn. For your protection, trading takes place in three steps: - You send a Pokémon in your party (it may be holding an item) with an optional message; - The recipient is notified and responds with another Pokémon in their party (it may be holding an item) and an optional message; - You confirm the trade, and the process is completed. The trading process can be canceled at any time before completion by either player. You can add money to a trade (you still need to trade Pokémon with it). Money is immediately deducted from your account when you send (or reply to) a trade request. It's returned if the trade is canceled, and sent to the other player only when the trade is confirmed. Pokémon in pending trades may not be nicknamed, moved, have items taken/given to them, or be released. Note: Trading Pokémon will NOT register the Pokémon you receive as caught, but it will register it as seen.

Certain Pokémon species are unobtainable in the wild normally. Others are available only once. Others may have special OTs/natures and be handed out to players by admins. These Pokémon are referred to as "event" Pokémon. Basically, Event Pokémon are any and all Pokémon that require a set of conditions to be met before they can be obtained. Can Event Pokémon be shiny?Absolutely. All event Pokémon except those manually manipulated by admins have the same chance as a normal Pokémon of being shiny. You should be able to tell immediately whether or not your event is shiny by the tiny icon that appears when you're able to activate it (though in some cases, like Spiritomb, you can only tell when the Pokémon itself appears). This includes the "roadblockers" (Snorlax and Sudowoodo). Refreshing will not change the Pokémon's shininess. It will, however, change its gender, in cases like Lapras and Spiritomb, and may turn up a retro sprite. Can Event Pokémon hold items?Like wild Pokémon, they may be holding an item when caught. Like wild Pokémon, this item is invariably random. Where do I find roaming Pokémon?Roamers may be found anywhere on the map, any region, EXCEPT water/underwater routes and fishing spots. There's a 1% chance of running into a roamer when you switch areas - refreshing will not bring them up, you have to move to the next area. You can only catch roamers after they start roaming). Items that can activate more than one event will also be consumed in such a way, so you'll need multiple items to get all event Pokémon.

Can I nickname my Pokémon? You can, if you're the OT. You can't nickname a Pokémon you're not the OT of, even if that Pokémon hadn't been nicknamed by its OT. To nickname your Pokémon, go to its detailed information page and click its name. An input field will appear. Type in the nickname you want and hit Enter. Voila! You've nicknamed your Pokémon. How do I set my Trainer Card message?Go to your public profile and click the empty space in the back of the card. You can input any message of up to 100 characters. How do I add/remove people to my Pal Pad?Go to their user profile pages, and click the Pal Pad icon at the bottom of the page (provided you have space in your Pal Pad - it can only store up to 80 friends). The process is identical for adding and removing. A green "+" symbol indicates adding, and a red "-" symbol is for removing.

As part of the still incomplete storyline, you're assigned a Partner when you sign up. As Yun's special effect (5% minimum discount at shops) is very useful when you're just starting out, he is the default partner for all new accounts.
The Partner will travel through the map with you, and say (ir)relevant things depending on which area you're at. Your partner will come to like you more as you spend time with them or meet certain requirements.
Additionally, the partner has a small chance (once per hour) of giving you an item. The more your partner likes you, the higher the chance is that s/he will give you something. Items partners send you are sent to your Mailbox in the form of a letter.
When a partner has reached maximum affection, an NPC hanging around in Pallet Town will give you a rare item.
The NPC will give you some indication of how your relationship with your partner(s) is going. When you select the "are you staring" etc option, what she says depends on how much your partner likes you. For instance, when affection is maxed out, she'll say "I was just thinking... You can almost smell the trust between you guys! It's pretty amazing."
There are different quotes for the following affection values:
0-20 21-50 51-100 101-150 151-200 201-254 255 (max)
The rare item she gives you depends on who your partner is (there is one item for each partner). In turn, another NPC will give you legendary summoning items for those rare items. Note that there are two different items for Hari and Nao, chosen at random - however, both items will yield the same legendary summon.
You'll only get the special item once. However, if you switch partners then switch back, you can get another one. So let's say you have Bel as a partner, and get his special item. Then you switch him with someone else, and switch back to him. His affection will have reset, and when it maxes out again, you can get his item again.
Note that this is ONLY when you SWITCH partners. Ada's affection resets if you catch a shiny, but if you already got her special item you will NOT get it again even if it maxes out again. You have to switch her out then back to be able to get another one.
The following is a list of which partner's item corresponds to which legendary summon:
Ada - Articuno Allen - Shaymin Ash - Zapdos Bel - Giratina Hari/Nao - Latias/Latios Jan - Kyogre Lyrit - Moltres Rei - Rayquaza Yun - Mewtwo Z - Deoxys Zan - Cresselia
Though your first partner - Yun - is automatically assigned to you, you have the ability to switch partners via PokéCell System. Note that switching partners will reset their affection.
IMPORTANT
The Partner System is still in its early stages, so many things aren't implemented yet, and many map quotes are missing. New partners are introduced over time.
Player suggestions for partners will not be taken due to issues related to ownership. Special event Pokémon will be molded after every partner, including a special nature and rare item attached.

For the purpose of storyline, the Safari Zone and Bug-Catching Contest don't exist literally - instead, there's a "simulation" mode for them that allows you to catch Pokémon that can't be caught any other way. You can access them from where in the map you'd normally find those places - i.e. the Kanto Safari Zone is in Fuchsia City. To get Safari Zone/Bug Catching Contest Pokémon, purchase Safari Balls or Compé Balls at the entrance to the Safari Zone/National Park/Great Marsh. You can only use that kind of Ball in those places. They cost 500 a piece, have a catch rate of 1.5x (same as a Great Ball), and work like other Poké Balls as far as catching. If you enter the Safari Zones/Contest Simulation without the necessary Balls, you won't see any Pokémon.

You can plant the berries you obtain while playing to get more berries. Every Berry you plant yields two berries when it's done growing. RequirementsBefore you can plant Berries, you need two items: the Berry Planter and the Squirtbottle. The Berry Planter will appear in the header shop after you've purchased the Squirtbottle. Once you've purchased both, you can access the Berry Planter from your Pokégear, just below your item bag, or from the shortcuts. The Berry PlanterThe Berry Planter can hold up to 4 planted Berries at a time. To plant a berry, select one from your inventory and click an empty mini-planter. A pop-up confirmation will appear, click "yes" and you'll plant the berry. Berries grow over time, from a seed to a sprout to a small plant to a blooming plant and, finally, a plant with ripe berries for the picking. When you pick the berries, the plant withers, and you can plant another berry where it was. Berry GrowthHow quickly a Berry grows depends on its rarity. Berry growth time was adjusted from the games' to better accomodate the fact you can only plant four at a time. 6 HoursCheri, Chesto, Pecha, Rawst, Aspear 8 HoursLeppa, Oran, Persim, Lum, Sitrus 10 HoursFigy, Wiki, Mago, Aguav, Iapapa, Razz, Bluk, Nanab, Wepear, Pinap 16 HoursPomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, Tamato, Cornn, Magost, Rabuta, Nomel 36 HoursSpelon, Pamtre, Watmel, Durin, Belue, Occa, Passho, Wacan, Rindo, Yache, Chople, Kebia, Shuca, Coba, Payapa, Tanga, Charti, Kasib, Haban, Colbur, Babiri, Chilan 48 HoursLiechi, Ganlon, Salac, Petaya, Apicot, Lansat, Starf, Enigma, Micle, Custap, Jaboca, Rowap Once the necessary growth time has passed, Berries will be available for picking for 24 hours. After that period, they'll revert to seed stage and start growing again. Having Allen as your partner will speed up berry growth. Having the first Pokémon in your party hold the Synthesis TM gives a small chance of berry trees yielding 3 berries instead of 2. Berries are automatically watered, so you don't have to worry about that. Pecha, Cheri, Rawst, Aspear and Chesto berries sell for $25. All other berries, regardless of rarity, sell for $50.

Since there is no battling on VDex, Badges are awarded for reaching certain milestones instead. They also make certain items available for purchase in the Shop. Boulder BadgeAwarded to players who have caught at least 10 different kinds of Pokémon. Enables: Rock Smash Cascade BadgeAwarded to players who have caught at least 20 different kinds of Pokémon. Enables: Surf, Strength, Good Rod Thunder BadgeAwarded to players who have completed their registration at least a week ago, and have obtained the two previous badges. The time is counted down to the minute and second - even if your trainer card says you've been a member for 7 days, until exactly 7 days pass, you will not get your badge. Enables: Trade Pass Rainbow BadgeAwarded to players who have caught at least 50 different kinds of Pokémon, and have obtained all the previous badges. Enables: Rock Climb, Dive, Super Rod Soul BadgeAwarded to players who have caught at least 100 different kinds of Pokémon, and have obtained all the previous badges. Enables: Whirlpool, Waterfall, Fire Seeker, Water Seeker, Grass Seeker Marsh BadgeAwarded to players who have caught at least 300 different kinds of Pokémon, and have obtained all the previous badges. Enables: N/A Volcano BadgeAwarded to players who have caught at least 500 different kinds of Pokémon, and have obtained all the previous badges. Enables: N/A Earth BadgeAwarded to players who have caught all 649 different kinds of Pokémon, and have obtained all the previous badges. Enables: N/A All badges were tested on my own profile with the appropriate counts, and seem to be functional. Do report any bugs! Note that you need all previous badges to get a badge - so even if you've been a member for a week, if you don't have the Cascade Badge you won't be able to trade. Any items not listed here do not have badges as a prerequisite.

The PokéCell System, accessible by clicking the PokéCell icons below the header, allows you to modify certain things in your account that can't be done anywhere else. Character NameIf you're tired of your character's name, you can change it for a low fee of 100. All languages and special characters are supported. Partner SwitchingYou can also change your current partner for a fee of 500. Partner affection resets when you switch, so be cautious. Gender ChangingYou can change your character's gender for free. Options include "Male", "Female" and "Neither". Other than cosmetic changes ("Male" gives you a blue color scheme, "Female" pink, "Neither" green), this affects the quotes you get from Zan (the partner; "Female" gets unique quotes), and what the Pallet NPC addresses your character as (mister, lady or neither). Avatar ChangingYou can change your character's avatar as well. The fee varies from 100 to 30000 depending on the avatar itself. The character's gender does not change with the avatar. An extra selection of avatars becomes available if you own at least one D/P or Pt sprite Pokémon, including frame2. Another selection becomes available if you own a FR/LG sprite. A third selection becomes available if you own a R/S or Emerald (R/S frame2) sprite. A fourth becomes available if you own a Gold or Silver sprite. A fifth if you own a Yellow sprite. A sixth if you own a R/B or Green sprite.

Breeding works very similarly as it does in the games. DaycareThe Daycare can be accessed from the map in places where it's normally found in all four regions (Route 5 in Kanto, Route 34 in Johto, Route 117 in Hoenn and Solaceon Town in Sinnoh), or by jumping straight to its page anytime. You can leave up to two Pokémon in the Daycare. Pokémon left there DO NOT gain any extra experience, so the Daycare's sole function is to be used for breeding. If the two Pokémon left there are able to breed, leaving them there long enough will produce an Egg. To withdraw the Egg you need an empty space in your party, and to pay a fee. The fee depends on which Pokémon is in the egg. You don't need to pay any fees to withdraw your two Pokémon from the Daycare. IMPORTANT: When you withdraw either one (or both) of two Pokémon that can breed, the timer for eggs is reset, and if they'd already found an egg, it will be gone. Be careful not to accidentally remove a Pokémon before removing the egg (unless you don't want the egg). What Breeds With WhatBreeding works the exact same as in the games in this sense. To be able to breed, two Pokémon need to be of opposite genders (genderless Pokémon can't breed with gendered Pokémon) OR one of them must be a Ditto (so genderless Pokémon can breed). They also need to be in compatible Egg Groups (Ditto is compatible with every Pokémon that can breed). Can't Breed: All legendaries except Manaphy (which breeds Phione), all baby Pokémon (like Pichu and Bonsly), all donation Pokémon, Pokémon that share one or both parents (siblings), parent(s) and child(ren). Note that, unlike in the games, Nidorina and Nidoqueen ARE able to breed. CompatibilityDaycare Pokémon have varying levels of compatibility. Ditto+anything is the lowest. Then come any two Pokémon in the same egg group, and finally same species. Having Rei as a partner automatically bumps compatibility up by one level. If the message displayed says the two Pokémon aren't interested in frolicking at all, they're incompatible and can't breed. Compatibility affects the speed at which eggs are produced. The longest it'll take to produce an egg is 24 hours. Items Held While Breeding Heart ScaleAn item that can be obtained from Violetta by showing her 50 max happiness Pokémon, found through TM Thief, gotten from Bel or purchased with PD or DP.
Held by a male Pokémon, it ensures that the egg will be of the same evolutionary line as the male, rather than the female. Taking the egg will consume the Heart Scale. EverstoneAn item that can be synthesized by giving 7 of each berry to the NPC Reed in Johto. If one of the parents is holding an Everstone, there's a chance that parent will pass on its Nature AND sprite type (always both or neither) to the offspring. So a Gentle R/B Ponyta holding an Everstone has a chance to breed other Gentle R/B Pokémon (if male) or other Gentle R/B Ponytas (if female). This works with "unique" natures as well, provided the parent isn't a donation Pokémon. Also works with specials, like the Christmas versions of Stantler/Delibird.The chance of successfully passing down the nature/sprite varies with the nature/sprite themselves. The chance of success if one of the parents is a Ditto is lower. Success rate is increased if you own an Egg Scope (see below). HG/SS - 100% HGSS2 - 50% (1/2) Platinum - 50% (1/2) Pt2 - 16.66% (1/6) D/P - 25% (1/4) DP2 - 12.5% (1/8) FR/LG and R/S - 10% (1/10) Emerald - 8.33% (1/12) G/S - 6.66% (1/15) Crystal - 5.5% (1/18) Yellow and R/B - 5% (1/20) B/W - 5% (1/20) Green - 1% (1/100) Love Budew and Seasonal Eevee - 5% (1/20) Easter Buneary, Halloween Pokémon, Xmas Pokémon and Valentine Vulpix - 2% (1/50) Special Natures - 5% (1/20) Note: In the event that the retro version of the egg doesn't exist (i.e. R/B Ditto holding an Everstone tries to breed with a Castform - R/B Castform wouldn't exist), the gen will default to Heart Gold/Soul Silver. BrightPowderAn item which can be synthesized by giving the NPC Reed 10 Micle, Enigma, Rowap, Jaboca and Custap berries. If held by a shiny Pokémon, it gives the offspring a 1 in 20 chance of being shiny. It is consumed regardless of whether or not the offspring is shiny when you take the egg out of the daycare, so it's best used with the Egg Scope (see below) so that you only take the egg when you're sure it's shiny. Discarding the egg when you own the Egg Scope does not make you lose the BrightPowder.
BrightPowder does nothing and is not consumed when held by a non-shiny Pokémon, or a shiny Pokémon that has a higher chance than usual of being shiny (e.g. Easter Buneary, Winter Eevee, Love Budew). ShiningPowderAn item which can be synthesized by giving the NPC Reed 2 Yache Berries, 2 Coba Berries, and 3 BrightPowder (see above). ShiningPowder is an upgraded version of the BrightPowder (meaning it's used when breeding to increase the chance of a shiny offspring). It has an increased chance of success (see below) and it can be stacked with the Everstone in a far more advantageous way. It works the same as BrightPowder - it needs to be given to a shiny parent during breeding, and it is consumed when an egg is withdrawn, regardless of whether or not the egg is shiny. Pokémon which can't be used for BrightPowder breeding also can't be used for ShiningPowder breeding. Success%: 10% (1 in 10) When coupled with Everstone: The Everstone will always produce a shiny if the other parent is holding a ShiningPowder and is shiny. The chance of success becomes whichever is lower - the ShiningPowder's 10%, or the Everstone's success rate, if it's lower than that. Retrieval Fee: Gets multiplied by 10 if the powder is successful. (instead of 20 like it'd be with BrightPowder) Example: A: Male shiny whatever holding ShiningPowder: 10% chance of success B: Female HGSS2 Pikachu holding Everstone: 50% chance of success C: Female Rocket Pikachu holding Everstone: 2% chance of success AxB: 10% chance of success of shiny HGSS2 Pichu (with BrightPowder: 2.5% chance of success) AxC: 2% chance of success of shiny Rocket Pichu (with BrightPowder: 0.1% chance of success) ---------------- In short, the ShiningPowder is the breeder's alternative to Everstone+BrightPowder breeding because it greatly increases the chance of success and greatly reduces the withdrawal fee/amount spent in discard fees. It makes it so that, if the Everstone works, the result will always be a shiny offspring. Its downside is the fact it's expensive to make, since you need to use 3 BrightPowder to synthesize it - so it's mostly worth it for really difficult/expensive shiny events/retros (the ones with a really low success rate). This way you don't have to rely on a 1 in hundreds/thousands chance of success and spend endless money on discard fees. IncenseSome species need to be holding a special type of item to be able to breed their baby versions. This is inherited directly from the games (and the reason behind it is that the baby version was introduced in a game that was released after the evolved version was introduced). Incense can be purchased in the header PP shop, for 10 PP each. Full IncenseSnorlax needs to be holding this to breed Munchlax. Lax IncenseWobbuffet needs to be holding this to breed Wynaut. Luck IncenseChansey/Blissey need to be holding this to breed Happiny. Odd IncenseMr. Mime needs to be holding this to breed Mime Jr.. Pure IncenseChimecho needs to be holding this to breed Chingling. Rock IncenseSudowoodo needs to be holding this to breed Bonsly. Rose IncenseRoselia/Roserade need to be holding this to breed Budew. Sea IncenseMarill/Azumarill need to be holding this to breed Azurill. Wave IncenseMantine needs to be holding this to breed Mantyke. Plain IncensePikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Electabuzz, Magmar, Jynx, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan and Hitmontop (and evolutions when applicable) holding this will NOT breed baby Pokémon (Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Elekid, Magby, Smoochum and Tyrogue). This is the only way to Everstone breed Generation I sprites of the parent species since otherwise they would produce the baby Pokémon, which do not exist in Gen I. Hitmontop doesn't have Gen I sprites but was included for completeness' sake. Bottled LoveAn item that is obtainable from the DP Shop for 2 DP. When held during breeding it will maximize compatibility between the two Pokémon (so you get eggs every hour). It's consumed when an egg is withdrawn (but not when it's discarded or either parent is removed).
This lets you maximize two Pokémon's compatibility and bypass the Everstone/Ditto nerf to quickly generate eggs until you get what you need, since it's not consumed when the egg is discarded. Convenient if you don't want to wait for the compatibility to max out. You can also use it to bypass discard fees (by withdrawing one of the Pokémon and putting them back in without needing to worry about their compatibility being reset), though it's not very cost effective unless you're breeding for something with a really high discard fee or a really low success rate.
Compatibility levels continue to grow even while a Pokémon is holding Bottled Love, so if you take an egg (thus consuming the Bottled Love) and decide to keep the Pokémon in the Daycare their compatibility will not reset and will be based on how long they've been there. SecretPotionObtainable from the DP Shop for 3 DP. SecretPotion can be used to breed a nature without passing down the sprite by making the Pokémon with the desired nature hold it during breeding. This has a 10% chance of working regardless of sprite type or nature (so it can be used for special natures, the main focus of this update). If a successfully bred egg is retrieved (i.e. it has the SP holding parent's nature) the SecretPotion is consumed. If the egg does not have the parent's nature or is discarded, it is not consumed.
It does not work in conjunction with the Everstone and it only works if you own an Egg Scope (if you don't it will neither work nor be consumed). If one parent is holding the SP and the other is holding an Everstone, the SecretPotion will always fail regardless of whether the Everstone works. The only exceptions to this are when the Everstone itself can't work (such as when the holder is in a POKé BALL or is a Pimpin' Ditto or a HSOWA Skitmer or Wailitty). Thus it is not possible to use the SP to attempt to pass down the nature from one parent and the sprite from the other parent.
It does, however, work with other breeding-related items, including the BrightPowder. The chances stack so the chance of a successfully bred BP+SP combo are 1/10*1/20 = 1/200.
The fee for the retrieval of the egg if it has a special nature is calculated using the same formula as the Everstone, with the numbers in the formula based on the Everstone's chance of success and the egg's data (so for instance a HGSS Gastly with a special nature will cost 2100 to retrieve even if the SP's chance of success is higher). The fee doesn't change if the nature isn't a special nature. EggsAlso like in the games, the species of the Pokémon in the egg is determined by the mother OR the Pokémon that isn't Ditto. So if you breed a male Roserade and a female Cherubi, the egg will be a Cherubi. If you breed a male Combee and a Ditto, the egg will be a Combee. If you breed Ditto and Rotom, the egg will be Rotom. The only exception to this rule is the Nidoran line. If the egg is of the Nidoran line as well, it can be either the male or the female Nidoran (50/50 chance). So if you breed a male Nidoran with a Ditto, you could get a female Nidoran egg. If you breed Nidoqueen and a male Marowak, the egg could be a male Nidoran. Gender and shininess are randomly determined when the Egg is withdrawn, in the same way a wild Pokémon's would be generated. Nature and the type of sprite (ie retro or non) are, usually, randomly determined, unless one parent is holding an Everstone (see above). Four out of six IVs are randomly determined. Two of them (randomly selected) will be inherited from the parents, one from each parent. Eggs can be traded and released like normal Pokémon. They can't be made to hold items, however. Egg trades don't get logged. Fees 50 - Magikarp only. 100 - The vast majority of species. 200 - Rarer species (like Ralts), and Safari Zone/Bug Catching Contest exclusives (like Kangaskhan). 500 - All baby Pokémon (like Pichu), and Honey exclusives (like Combee). 1000 - Rare (1-2% map encounter) Unova Pokémon, event Pokémon that need items and can be caught multiple times (like Spiritomb and fossil Pokémon), and all starters (like Bulbasaur). 3000 - Feebas, Houndour, one-time only Event Pokémon (like Eevee), Togepi, Riolu and Phione. 6000 - Larvesta. Egg ScopeThe Egg Scope is a key item which can be purchased for $80,000 or 8 DP (donation points). It allows you to see what's inside a Daycare egg before you take it, and discard the egg if it's an unwanted Pokémon. With an Egg Scope, you can tell species, gender, sprite, shininess and nature. It's particularly useful when trying to breed a specific Pokémon. You can only use Egg Scopes in the Daycare. They also increase the chance of successful breeding with an Everstone. Discard FeesThe fee to discard an egg is half the price to retrieve the egg, unless the retrieval fee is less than $500, in which case it's 90% of the base retrieval fee. When an egg is discarded it's destroyed, so it doesn't go to your party, and it doesn't clog up the database. Everstone Breeding + Egg ScopeIf you're using the Everstone to breed and own an Egg Scope, you'll pay an increased retrieval fee for withdrawing any egg that has the same sprite as the parent holding the Everstone. The fee depends on the rarity of the sprite. Sprites that aren't the same as that of the Everstone parent won't have the retrieval fee changed unless the child inherited a special nature from the parent (i.e. a VDex custom nature), in which case the retrieval fee will increase. HatchingTo hatch an Egg, simply leave it in your party for a while. The amount of time an Egg takes to hatch varies with the kind of Pokémon inside it. When the Egg is ready to hatch, you can hatch it from its information page. The OT will be the person who hatches the egg, not the person who bred it. The hatched Pokémon will also be registered in the seen/caught dex counts for the person who hatches it. Hatched Pokémon start at 120 Happiness instead of 70. Hatching TimeFor every hour an Egg is in the party, it gains +250 "experience". The amount of "experience" needed to fully mature is exactly the same listed under "steps" in their Bulbapedia entries (so the average is 5535). Every time the egg receives 1/4 the total necessary "experience", the status message displayed in information pages changes. The maximum time needed to hatch an egg is close to 48 hours for species like Beldum and Dratini. The minimum is about 7 hours for Magikarp. Trading an egg away won't reset hatching time.

The Gacha Corner can be found where in the games you'd usually find a Game Corner: Celadon in Kanto, Goldenrod in Johto, Mauville in Hoenn or Veilstone in Sinnoh. There, you can gamble your money away purchase a special kind of Poké Ball called a Gacha Ball that can only be used to catch Pokémon within the Gacha Corner. Pokémon caught with Gacha Balls will always be holding an item, and it can be virtually any item except for items in the "Special" pocket, donation items, event-exclusive items (like the Premier Ball), and partner-exclusive items (like the Lure Ball). Gacha BallsA special kind of Ball that can be only used in the Gacha Corner. They come in 15 different colors, have a perfect catch rate, and will always give the caught Pokémon an item to hold. There's roughly a 50% the item will be something common. The other 50% of the time, it could be virtually anything except the ones listed above. They can currently be purchased for 1000 at the Gacha Corner. Regular Gacha ZoneAt the Regular Gacha Zone, you can switch one of your party Pokémon into a Gacha Ball of your choice, and they'll be holding a random item like in any of the other features. There's no additional fee to use this feature, but you'll lose the Ball the Pokémon was originally in. Note that the process will fail if: a) Your Pokémon is already holding an item (to avoid accidentally overwriting items); b) Your Pokémon is in a Shiny/POKé/Cross Ball; c) Your Pokémon is in a Cherish Ball; d) Your Pokémon is an Egg, in a pending trade or not in your party. Here is an example of a recently Gacha'd Pokémon. As you can see in the log, it was caught in the wild. I changed it into a yellow Gacha Ball, and it was given a DeepSeaScale. Adoption CenterYou have the option of adopting a Pokémon another player has released. Adopting requires one Gacha Ball and has no additional fee. Four Pokémon are displayed at a time - you can see their species, gender, nature, level and experience. To adopt a Pokémon, just click a Gacha Ball. If another user adopts a Pokémon before you do, you'll get an error message. Otherwise, adoption never fails. You can't adopt Pokémon that have you listed as the OT. When you adopt, all old logs are erased. You're listed as the OT and the nickname is reverted back to the Pokémon's species (it'll be nicknameable) - unless it's a donation Pokémon (like Yun), in which case the OT and nickname will be preserved (you can tell a donation Pokémon apart from the others by the fact its nickname is displayed rather than its species). Mystery EggsYou can use Gacha Balls to purchase Mystery Eggs (there's a service fee of 300 in addition to using up a Gacha Ball). The Pokémon inside can be anything except for Ditto, and it too will come holding an item.

NPCs can be found in some areas of the map. They can be spoken to by clicking on their little faces on the map. NPCs are generally tied to "sidequests", so to speak. Some can trade items with you, some can give you rare Pokémon and eggs, and so forth. Make sure you speak to NPCs you come across! Current NPCsIn Pallet Town (Kanto), a girl will talk to you about your partner. Her quotes change the more your partner affection rises. When she says she can "almost smell the trust between you", it means affection is maxed. If you speak to her when affection is maxed, she'll give you an item, which can be exchanged for a legendary summoning item. In Cerulean City (Kanto), a girl will talk to you about the first Pokémon in your party. Her quotes change the more your Pokémon's happiness rises. When she says your Pokémon "loves you a lot", it means happiness is maxed. Showing her 50 max happiness Pokémon gives you a single Heart Scale (this is not repeatable). In Cherrygrove City (Johto), a boy will make items out of berries for you, including balls, rare candy, and the much coveted Everstone. In the northern half of Route 104 (Hoenn), a boy will give you one free, randomly chosen berry (out of the 64 berry types) every 48 hours. In the Abandoned Building at Veilstone City (Sinnoh), you'll find an NPC who will normally refuse to talk to you. After meeting him, go to the NPC below to get a Secret Key. Go back to this NPC with a Rotom in your party, and you'll be able to change its form. Note frame2 Rotom might be unable to change forms since the sprites are missing. In the Fight Area (Sinnoh), you'll find an NPC who'll exchange certain items for legendary summoning items. This includes items you can get from the girl in Pallet. You can also exchange a Heart Scale for a Recommendation Letter (one time only). In Iron Island (Sinnoh), there's an NPC who will give you a Riolu egg once you've registered at least 100 Pokémon in your Pokédex. The same NPC will give you a Manaphy Egg if you speak to him with 3 Graveler, 2 Scyther and a Venusaur in your party. You have to be the OT of all these Pokémon. The same NPC will also give you a Larvesta Egg if you've registered at least 550 Pokémon in your Pokédex.

In many cities in all continents, you'll find a Bank. The Bank is primarily used to make money. It has two main features: Deposits & EarningsIf you make a cash deposit, after 24 hours, it'll turn up some earnings, which can be withdrawn at the bank itself. Earnings cap at $500 - you need to withdraw them for them to start building up again. You earn 24% of what's deposited at the end of the 24 hour cycle in earnings. The amount does stack even if you don't check the bank for several days. Advertising RewardsBy displaying your party images on your signature or other forums/sites, you earn points which can be redeemed in the form of $18 per point. Each unique viewer grants you 1 point. Unique viewers reset after 24 hours, and points become redeemable then. Example: - You get your party images and display them on your signature today. 24 hour cycle begins. - Over the course of the day, 10 unique people see your party. - 24 hours passed. You can now redeem your 10 points. Unique viewers reset. - The same 10 people view your party the next day. - 24 hours pass. You can redeem another 10 points. There's a forum topic here exclusively for posting your party. You can get at least a few points a day by posting there. Being more active in the forums and keeping the images in your signature means more people get to see them. And of course, posting them outside of the site means even more people get to see them. This helps us advertise, so it's really important to help keep the site up. Note that after a certain number of unique viewers you'll no longer get a full point per viewer. This is to prevent people from spamming high traffic sites and becoming millionaires overnight.

These are the currently available partners and relevant information about them. "Items" refer to which items the partner may send you through mail. "Special Item" is the item you get from the Pallet NPC when you have maxed their affection. AdaSpecies: Gyarados (Shiny) Gender: Female Bio: A woman, oftentimes mistaken for a man due to wearing men's clothing, who is constantly angry at something and is absolutely, positively not a tsundere. Items: Aspear Berry, Sitrus Berry, Iapapa Berry, Pinap Berry, Grepa Berry, Nomel Berry, Belue Berry, Yache Berry, Coba Berry, Colbur Berry, Rowap Berry, Water Stone, Dive Ball, Lure Ball Special Item: Blue Shard (used to trade for a Blue Flute which summons Articuno) Special Effect: Having Ada as a partner increases your chances of running into a shiny Pokémon. The chance is greater the more she likes you. Note shinies are still very rare (obviously), but your chances are MUCH better if she's with you. How to Raise Affection: Ada has a 50% chance of getting +1 affection every time you feed a Magikarp. You must be the owner of the Magikarp, but don't have to be the OT. She is very picky. She gains +1 affection per hour spent on the site. Also, her affection resets every time you catch a shiny Pokémon. She hates collectors, you see, so um. She's hard to deal with, yes. AllenSpecies: Gallade Gender: Male Bio: The very image of what a gallant swordsman should be, and also a pretty amazing housewife mother um guy. He likes doing house chores, cooks better than your mother, and enjoys gardening. Oh and he has a broom that turns into a sword. No, really. Items: Fresh Water, Soda Pop, Lemonade, MooMoo Milk, Berry Juice, Tea, Rage Candy Bar, Lava Cookie, Old Gateau, Rare Candy Special Item: Wise Glasses (used to trade for a White Flute which summons Shaymin) Special Effect: Allen cuts berry growth time, in hours, rounded up, by 10%. There's no effect on berries that take less than 10 hours to grow, but he shaves off 1 to 4 hours off of growth from other berries. Allen's berry growth bonus increases with affection and can shave off up to 25% berry growth time. He likes to help with gardening. How to Raise Affection: Allen gets +1 affection every time you plant or harvest berries. So it takes planting/picking berries 255 times (not 255 berries total) total to max it out. AshSpecies: Sharpedo Gender: Male Bio: A very intellectual and wise young man with a knack for saying intelligent things (actually no he's a moron). Items: Cheri Berry, Leppa Berry, Figy Berry, Razz Berry, Pomeg Berry, Tamato Berry, Spelon Berry, Occa Berry, Chople Berry, Tanga Berry, Enigma Berry, Helix Fossil, Dome Fossil, Root Fossil, Claw Fossil, Lure Ball Special Item: Red Shard (used to trade for a Yellow Flute which summons Zapdos) Special Effect: With Ash as your partner the effect of the Lure Ball is increased to a 6x catch rate at base affection, up to 48x at maxed affection, which makes the vast majority of Pokémon caught in water unmissable. He also adds Lure Balls to all shops. How to Raise Affection: Ash gets +3 affection every time you catch a Pokémon at a water route. He also gains +1 affection per hour spent on the site. Bel (Bel's quotes are written by VSSAKJ) Species: Gengar Gender: Male Bio: A very honest, very earnest, not at all sulky shota young man. He tells only the truth at all times. He and Rei somehow put up with one another. Items: TinyMushroom, Big Mushroom, Pearl, Big Pearl, Stardust, Star Piece, Rare Bone, Nugget, Heart Scale Special Item: Amulet Coin (used to trade for a Black Flute which summons Giratina) Special Effect: Bel helps you make money. He gives a bonus of +50 up to +200 for gold earned by idling (i.e. gold per hour), based on affection. All the items he finds are "valuables", so they tend to sell well. You'll find yourself making money faster, but there's a catch! And the catch is that he shoplifts. The shop owners aren't very happy about this, so shop prices go up by 25%! He also "borrows" items held by wild Pokémon, so with him as a partner, you won't find any Pokémon holding anything. He's super honest, really! If you have him as a partner when you complete a dungeon, he may also boost your reward money by up to 25%. This stacks with TM Pay Day's dungeon bonus. How to Raise Affection: Bel gets +1 affection per hour you spend on the site. Also, every time Bel swipes an item from a wild Pokémon (10% chance every time you catch a Pokémon), he likes you a lot for being such a sucker nice trainer. So you get a nice +20 boost to his affection. Bel won't swipe event-related items. Hari and NaoSpecies: Umbreon and Glaceon Gender: Male and Female Bio: A giant and a midget who are both very quiet, very strange, and very uncomfortable around everything not each other. Items: Pecha Berry, Persim Berry, Mago Berry, Nanab Berry, Qualot Berry, Magost Berry, Watmel Berry, Wacan Berry, Shuca Berry, Kasib Berry, Custap Berry, Everstone, Fire Stone, Thunderstone, Water Stone, Soothe Bell Special Item: BlackGlasses OR Silk Scarf (both used to trade for Soul Dew which summons Latias or Latios) Special Effect: They have a much higher probability of mailing you items than other partners, and this probability increases further the more they like you. How to Raise Affection: Hari & Nao get +1 affection per hour you spend on the site. Jan (Jan's quotes written by green) Species: Kirlia (Shiny) Gender: Male Bio: A very unmanly young Kirlia whose dream of evolving into a Gallade never came true because he went and became a guy, so now he is fated to being a part-skirt-wearing-loli forever. He is very excited about going on an adventure with you!! And he writes amazing letters. Allen is his role model in many ways. Items: Leppa Berry, Oran Berry, Persim Berry, Lum Berry, Sitrus Berry, Liechi Berry, Ganlon Berry, Salac Berry, Petaya Berry, Apicot Berry, Lansat Berry, Starf Berry, Friend Ball, Dawn Stone Special Item: Letter (used to trade for a Blue Orb which summons Kyogre) Special Effect: Friend Balls become available at shops. Jan also gives a default happiness bonus for all Pokémon caught with him as a partner. The bonus at base affection is +10, and at maxed it's +120, meaning if you catch a Pokémon in a Friend Ball with Jan as your partner with maxed affection, it'll start at max happiness. How to Raise Affection: Jan has a 50% chance of getting +1 affection every time you feed a Pokémon. You must be the owner of the Pokémon, but don't have to be the OT. In addition, he also gets +1 affection per hour you spend on the site. LyritSpecies: Milotic (Shiny) Gender: Male Bio: A man, oftentimes mistaken as a woman for wearing a women's kimono, who is perfectly sane and absolutely not psychotic. Items: S.S. Ticket, Heal Ball, Dive Ball, Lure Ball, Rare Candy, Prism Scale Special Item: Red Scale (used to trade for a Red Flute which summons Moltres) Special Effect: This one is a double-edge if there ever was one. Lyrit gives a tremendous boost to catch rate (+15 at base affection, which means a legendary's catch rate would go from 3/300 to 18/300 - the boost is applied AFTER the ball bonus, so if you used a Dusk Ball at night that would be 27/300) so you're guaranteed to catch things easier when he's with you. That boost goes up to +90 when affection maxes. The catch is that he also gives a tremendous boost to the fee for switching him out to another partner. At base affection it costs $1,000 to switch him out, and that rises with affection up to $8,000. So if you're thinking about switching to him so you can go retro/shiny hunting at ease, think carefully. How to Raise Affection: Lyrit gets +2 affection per hour spent on the site. ReiSpecies: Froslass Gender: Female Bio: Rei is a cynical, a bit bitter, a bit sadistic young lady who is Bel's BFF with benefits and has a strange undisclosed grudge against Jan. Items: Dawn Stone, Lax Incense, Full Incense, Luck Incense, Odd Incense, Pure Incense, Rock Incense, Rose Incense, Sea Incense, Wave Incense Special Item: Old Charm (used to trade for a Green Orb which summons Rayquaza) Special Effect: Rei helps you with Pokémon breeding (who could've known...). She will automatically raise the compatibility level of two Pokémon in the Daycare by one (provided that they can breed), so having her around means Pokémon will breed faster. She also gives a bonus of +15 up to +270 (based on affection) to the egg experience gained per hour. How to Raise Affection: Rei gets +1 affection for every $100 you spend at the Daycare (to retrieve eggs). Similarly, the amount is rounded down. She also gets +1 affection per hour you spend on the site. YunSpecies: Kadabra Gender: Male Bio: An intelligent gentleman with a penchant for... going on and on endlessly about Blast nobody cares about. Items: Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Rawst Berry, Lum Berry, Aguav Berry, Wepear Berry, Hondew Berry, Rabuta Berry, Durin Berry, Rindo Berry, Haban Berry, Jaboca Berry Special Item: Twistedspoon (used to trade for a Diary which summons Mewtwo) Special Effect: Yun gives you a discount at map shops starting at 5% and gradually increasing as his affection increases. The maximum discount is 20%. This discount is void for items costing $10,000 or more. How to Raise Affection: Yun gets +1 affection for every $200 you spend at Poké Marts (map shops). Money spent on berry purchases or items that his discount doesn't apply to doesn't count. This amount is rounded down; if you spend 550, you get +2 affection. ZSpecies: Porygon-Z Gender: Indeterminate Bio: A bunch of data turned shotaloli. It talks in binary and/or hex and most of its quotes consist of analyzing its surroundings. Items: S.S. Ticket, Up-Grade, Dubious Disc, Mimic, Rollout, Ancientpower, Double Hit, Synthesis, Thief, Mean Look, Odor Sleuth, Pay Day, Transform, Heat Wave Special Item: Machine Part (used to trade for a Life Orb which summons Deoxys) Special Effect: Z will analyze things for you. Literally. Currently it'll tell you what the catch rate with a specific Poké Ball will be, what the IVs of a Pokémon are (at high affection), and gives you a generic idea of the success probability of a specific trial at the Trial Arena. How to Raise Affection: Z gets +1 affection per hour you spend on the site. ZanSpecies: Zangoose Gender: Male Bio: A playboy who thinks he understands women (he doesn't) and dislikes climbing towers. Items: Chesto Berry, Oran Berry, Wiki Berry, Bluk Berry, Kelpsy Berry, Cornn Berry, Pamtre Berry, Passho Berry, Kebia Berry, Charti Berry, Micle Berry, Love Ball Special Item: Destiny Knot (used to trade for a Lunar Wing which summons Cresselia) Special Effect: Zan gives a default catch rate boost to any female Pokémon, regardless of which Ball is used. At base affection it's a +3 bonus, and it increases up to +30 (this bonus is cumulative with ball effects - so a Great Ball would give a +4.5 to +45 bonus, et cetera). When paired up with the Love Ball bonus this essentially means a female Pokémon with a normal catch rate of 25/300 will have its rate increased to 55 at maximum affection, times 8 with the Ball, making it an unmissable 440/300. Love Balls will be added to every map shop as well. How to Raise Affection: Zan gets +3 affection every time you catch a female Pokémon. He also gains +1 affection per hour spent on the site.

The Pokégear, accessible from the header, is your main personal information page. This page is not viewable by other members. Here, you have links to a variety of things and can view some information about your character and party, as well as your Pal Pad friends. Here you can also find a link to your "Achievements" - special titles you earn as you progress through the game. AchievementsThe Achievements System gives you special titles that are displayed on your public profile. Each title has a specific requirement that must be met for it to be obtained. For instance, you may need to catch a specific number of Pokémon, or every variety of Unown, or hatch a specific number of Eggs.

The Capsule Service is accessible by clicking on the Capsule icon under the header. The (grumpy) NPC there will apply capsules to Pokémon in your party for you. Capsules will change the way the Ball your Pokémon was caught in looks. They may also have special effects such as change your Pokémon's nature. A Pokémon's log will display any capsule changes. That way, you can tell them apart from Pokémon caught in the original ball items. This helps preserve Pokémon caught in discontinued balls like the Inert Ball. Capsules cannot be applied if your Pokémon is in a: - Cherish Ball - Shiny Ball - Cross Ball - POKé Ball - Dream Ball They also can't be applied if the Pokémon has already had that capsule applied recently, or if the capsule would have no effect (i.e. Inert Capsule on an Inert Ball'd Pokémon won't work). Furthermore, capsules that affect natures (i.e. Bro Capsule) currently can only be used on Pokémon with default natures (Timid, Quirky, Hardy, etc). They won't work on Pokémon with ball natures (like Rocket Ball natures or CAPS BALL natures), and they won't work on Pokémon with special natures (like GHOST). This may change in the future. You're also given the option to purchase Removal Capsules, which cost 10,000 each. Alternatively, it can be bought for 1 DP if you have access to the donation shop. This capsule can ONLY overwrite other capsules. It will not work on Pokémon in Gacha Balls, regular balls, Cherish Balls, Rocket Balls, CAPS balls, et cetera. It removes the capsule graphic and replaces it with a Poké Ball graphic. Additionally, it'll erase any custom natures and give the Pokémon a random regular nature. You do NOT get your original capsule back.

An NPC can make items out of berries for you in Cherrygrove (Johto). It is possible to check the available items and exchange rates by talking to him. Exclusive Synthesis Items BrightPowderA special powder that, when given to a LEGITIMATE (no shiny ball) shiny Pokémon, gives a 1 in 20 chance of that Pokémon producing a shiny offspring. The item is consumed when an egg is retrieved from the Daycare regardless of whether or not the Pokémon in the egg is shiny. It can be made by spending 10 of each of the rarest berries (available in the PP Shop). ShiningPowderShiningPowder is an upgraded version of the BrightPowder. When given to a legitimate shiny Pokémon, it gives a 1 in 10 chance of that Pokémon producing a shiny offspring, unless the other parent is holding an Everstone. Whenever the Everstone successfully produces an offspring with the parent's sprite/nature, said offspring will also always be shiny. In this case, the chance of success becomes whichever is lower - the ShiningPowder's 10%, or the Everstone's success rate, if it's lower than that. Just like the BrightPowder, it is consumed when an egg is withdrawn, regardless of whether or not the egg is shiny. Pokémon which can't be used for BrightPowder breeding also can't be used for ShiningPowder breeding. It can be made by spending 2 Yache Berries, 2 Coba Berries, and 3 BrightPowders. Berry BallsEach Ball represents a different type of Berry flavor. Pokémon caught with these balls will automatically like the flavor they represent regardless of nature. If the nature dictates it likes another flavor, it'll like two flavors. If it dictates it likes everything, it'll like that flavor more (but still like the others equally). And if the nature originally disliked the flavor, it'll completely ignore that and like it, so you end up with a poke that likes 2 flavors and dislikes none. Their catch rate is the same as a regular Poké Ball. Spicy Ball - Made by spending 20 Cheri Berries. Sour Ball - Made by spending 20 Aspear Berries. Bitter Ball - Made by spending 20 Rawst Berries. Dry Ball - Made by spending 20 Chesto Berries. Sweet Ball - Made by spending 20 Pecha Berries. ScarvesScarves can be given to Pokémon to hold. They boost contest stats. They DO NOT help unlock advanced trials, but they DO help with success rates for trials. They can't increase these stats past their limit (25 stars). When attached to a black or white Valentine's Vulpix, they'll change its sprite (see event topic). They may or may not have a battle use in the future. Red Scarf - Adds +10 (5 stars) to Coolness. Made by spending 50 Cheri, 10 Leppa, 10 Figy, 10 Razz, 5 Pomeg Berries. Yellow Scarf - Adds +10 (5 stars) to Toughness. Made by spending 50 Aspear, 10 Sitrus, 10 Iapapa, 10 Pinap, 5 Grepa Berries. Green Scarf - Adds +10 (5 stars) to Smartness. Made by spending 50 Rawst, 10 Lum, 10 Aguav, 10 Wepear, 5 Hondew Berries. Blue Scarf - Adds +10 (5 stars) to Beauty. Made by spending 50 Chesto, 10 Oran, 10 Wiki, 10 Bluk, 5 Kelpsy Berries. Pink Scarf - Adds +10 (5 stars) to Cuteness. Made by spending 50 Pecha, 10 Persim, 10 mago, 10 Nanab, 5 Qualot Berries.

There are two types of TMs on VDex: TMs used for evolutionary purposes, and TMs which take effect when held by the first Pokémon in your party.
Evolutionary TMs
All of them can be purchased for $3,000 at Lilycove City in Hoenn. Give them for the appropriate Pokémon to hold and they can evolve. The TM is consumed upon evolution.
Mimic - Evolves Mime Jr. and Bonsly. Rollout - Evolves Lickitung. Double Hit - Evolves Aipom. AncientPower - Evolves Yanma, Piloswine and Tangela.
Held TMs
Only Headbutt can be purchased at a map shop (Goldenrod in Johto), for $1000. All the others can be obtained either as gifts from Z or through Gacha.
Headbutt - Allows you to headbutt trees in Johto and find Pokémon that way. Headbutt can be held by any Pokémon in your party. Synthesis - Sometimes yields 3 berries instead of 2 when harvesting. Heat Wave - Doubles the ratio at which eggs hatch. Mean Look - Doubles a Pokémon's base catch rate. Pay Day - Occasionally increases money gained per hour. Occasionally gives you more money when you sell an item. May also boost dungeon gains by up to 50%; this stacks with Bel's bonus. Thief - Occasionally finds an item while surfing the map/using the PokéRadar. A message is displayed on the screen to notify you of this. Odor Sleuth - Locks on to a specific Pokémon and makes the Pokémon keep appearing if you click the PokéRadar or miss the catch. It has a 15% chance of failure. The effect is nullified when you switch map areas. Odor Sleuth doesn't work on Jirachi, Missingno., starters found via Seeker and roaming legendaries.
Transform
A rare TM which can be obtained through Z, Thief TM or Gacha. If a Ditto holds this, it becomes able to "evolve" - that is, permanently transform into a different Pokémon. The species chosen is random, can't be another Ditto, and has a regular chance of being legendary (meaning the chance of it becoming a Caterpie is the same as the chance of it becoming Arceus).
