Quests sponsored by staff may be joined by anyone, and may be completed for as long as the quest topic remains open.
It may be necessary to have a Trade Pass to participate, in which case the topic will specifically state it.
You are, however, allowed to complete a quest before you obtain your Trade Pass - just report the success when you have the Pass itself, and you'll receive the prize.
Each quest may only be completed once per person.
In some quests, you may need to trade away Pokémon/items you were asked to collect, or the staff may manually remove Pokémon/items/money from your account in exchange for the prize. In the event this is the case, the quest topic will explicitly state that you'll lose whatever it was you were asked to collect.
Official quests have [OFFICIAL] next to their name in the topic title. A member quest trying to pass off as an official quest is grounds for a warn or ban.
Members are allowed to create and maintain their own quest campaigns. A member-sponsored quest needs to follow a few specifications:
a) Members sponsoring a quest need to have a Trade Pass, since that's the only way to send the prize(s) to members who complete the quest.
b) The member sponsoring a quest is under the obligation to hand out the prize(s) to other members who complete the quest, UNLESS the quest is closed.
c) To close your quest, mark the topic as [CLOSED] in the topic title AND comment to your own quest saying the quest is closed. Only marking the topic as closed will not count. The comment is important so that the staff will be able to tell whether or not someone commented after you had closed your thread.
d) Members may decide what the prizes and rules for questing will be. For instance, you could be offering a retro Porygon for players who have a Calm Budew, and it could be a requirement that the person trades you the Budew. Or you could be offering an Enigma Berry to people who have caught over 50 different Pokémon, and have no extra requirements (ie they could trade you fodder).
e) Quests can't be thinly veiled excuses for trades (or thinly veiled excuses to get something you want). If you offer a retro Porygon to people who have a Calm Budew and close the quest after the first person has completed it, that's a trade and not a quest.
f) Similarly, quests can't be thinly veiled excuses for sales. Asking for money or hard to find Pokémon to be traded to you is less quest and more sale.
Members participating in other members' quests should keep an eye out for scam attempts. The staff will do everything possible to close down "bad" quest threads, and to take disciplinary action if someone tries to use a quest as an excuse to scam someone.
