Plunder and Pokemon: Mansion of Mystery
A DnD inspired game.

It was dark when it happened. There was a storm raging outside with the lightning cutting the skies and rain colliding against the glass.

The water was neither smooth nor soft. It had a cold dark edge that pierced the lungs and stole the breath.

When consciousness was swallowed whole, the storm subsided and drifted strangers together on a current to land on unfamiliar shores.


    Rules
  • This is going to be a long quiest that will require you to respond at least once a day. Please join if you have time to read and post at least once daily. If you do not post after 2 days you will be removed. If you miss an event 3 times (do not respond with an action within 24 hours) you will be removed.
  • Please be polite and courteous. As you are playing characters, please understand that people RPing may choose to act in a certain way for a reason.
  • You are allowed to be creative, but if I deem an action impossible then it will not be allowed.
  • Players can work together or not if they choose. You can not directly sabotage other players, but you can choose to not help them if you wish.
  • Format your posts correctly! Use italics for flavour text/roleplay and use ((double brackets)) if you're talking out of character/as a person.
  • You will know things your character doesn't. Characters are not allowed to act on knowledge they can not know.
  • You can not chose to become a legendary pokemon, missingno or a VDex event pokemon.
  • Violating the rules will lead you to being removed from the game.

    Prizes
  • There will be a point system in place for prizes. Getting a level will give you 1 point. Completing a challenge or task will earn you points based on the difficulty. If a group completes a challenge together, the total points awarded is divided between the group and will never be less than 1 each (so if the task only awards 1-2 points, everyone will get at least 1 point).
  • Prizes will not be free-to-resell without my permission and doing so will mean you are banned from participating in future games. However if you wish to trade or sell your prize, please PM/contact me beforehand.
  • Though the Master Ball itself is not free-to-resell, if you catch a Pokemon with it (e.g. Crystal Suicune) and want to sell the Pokemon, that's 100% fine and no permission is required.
  • Everyone will take home a prize, provided they earned at least one point or completed one event (I will make sure the brackets accommodate this!)

(if you'd rather get something else like event/nature/shiny breeding, etc, let me know and we'll work something out)

    Attributes
  • Character attributes are pre-determined by me somewhat randomly at the start of the game. Everyone starts with 20 HP, 10 PP and 10 points distributed into stats.
  • Atrributes will be updated on the Character section and can be viewed at any time.
  • Factors like equipment and items can boost or reduce attributes.
    • Level: Increases after completing a challenge/task successfully or after a battle. Leveling increases your stats by 5. Determines the success of general actions.
    • Type: Determines effectiveness of moves, based on the same multipliers in game.
    • HP: Number of hit points. Health points recover at the rate of 1 per two events. Resting will restore half your health. When your hit points are lower than half, you receive a -2 penalty to all stats. At 0 you will collapse from exhaustion and have to roll to recover.
    • PP: Number of power points. Power points are used for moves and recover at a rate of 1 per two events. Resting will restore your power. At 0 you will be unable to use any moves.
    • Attack: Determines success for actions related to physical strength.
    • Defense: Determines defense and recovery against actions related to physical strength.
    • Special Attack: Determines success for actions related to special abilities.
    • Special Defense: Determines defense and recovery against actions related to special abilities.
    • Speed: Determines dodge chances and actions related to reflexes.
    • Ability: Special ability that is unique to you.
    • Moves: Abilities you learn that can be used. Moves consume PP. Once you are out of PP, you cannot use any moves. At any point in time you can use Struggle or do basic actions (run, swipe, etc), but they will be less effective than a move. When using a move, make sure you type the move name in bold.

    Progression
  • Events will be written and posted at least once per day (depending on my schedule and how fast participants respond).
  • Events will be 2-4 in-game hours in between each other and the severity of the events while traveling are random (though you will not have two taxing events in a row) and determined by RNG. For example, if from 0 - 20 I generate the number 0, nothing will occur but the number 20 will mean a big event will occur. Then I will roll on the nature of the event (good or bad, etc) and so on.
  • You may choose how to react to an event, but if you action is not possible, it will not be rolled for. Possible actions will be rolled for based on your level and/or stats. High rolls mean success, low rolls mean failure.
  • When an event is posted, you must react to an event. Even if you choose not to react (take no action), a post has to be made as it will be a way of judging activity.
  • If you wish to work with another player, you are allowed to discuss it on/off-thread and the exchange should be posted in an RP style.
  • Progression of events will occur either once everyone has posted a reply or after 24 hours (in which your character by default will do nothing and if it happens more than three times, you will be removed).

      (Optional RP text, not required but you can if you'd like!) I had been engrossed in thought that I didn't see them coming. I manage to bite back a swear as I try to avoid colliding against them. If I did, I don't know how I could recover from the embarrassment.
      I try to avoid collision with my crush by pivoting by body to the side.

    My Post
    Day 1
    Time: 12:00pm
    Event: Crushing Collision
      Player A rolls a 10. Player A's currently Agility stat is 9, giving a bonus of +1.
      Thanks to his quick reflexes, Player A managed to dodge their crush with only a slight stumble before righting his balance. The crush apologizes for not paying attention to their surroundings. [insert continuing story here]

    Inventory
  • Players will be informed in-post when their character receives an item.
  • Items possessed will be updated on the Character section and can be viewed at any time.
  • Characters will have limits on how much they can carry. These limits may change depending on circumstances.
  • The use/function of some items will not always be obvious or clear. The item may not even have a specific name.

i mean,, if people complete a puzzle or event in a group, can one person post detailing the group's activity (assuming the group collaborated on it outside of the thread) and have it count for each person in the group, or will all members be required to post? or should the entire exchange be posted in-thread like rp style?

OKAY SO. I would prefer if the exchange was posted in-thread as much as possible RP style! Your characters are free to talk to each other without me if you'd like at any time! Obviously if you are going to do something like fight each other, then I would have to moderate that with the D20 AKA RNG. You are free to talk/discuss outside the thread too, if you'd like. Maybe set up a Chatter thread if you're worried about spamming this up? The only thing I'd like is for all discussion to be put in double-brackets, ((like so)) so people know that it's you talking and not part of your quest/character.

I will update this information on the page, hope it helps!

The basic format goes: I give a setting. You decide an action. I decide the outcome (well the RNG does but I write how it turns out based on that).

Registration is open! Please read the following on information on how to register.

In order to register you need to catch a new pokemon of your choice (caught 7th November 2015 or later). This pokemon cannot be a legendary, missingno. or a vdex event. It cannot be hatched from an egg, holding an item, gained a level or possess any shiny leaves. It can shiny or retro. Make sure the pokemon you have has the nature/blurb that you like, because that Pokemon is going to represent you during this adventure!

Once you have caught the said pokemon, post here.

Your registration should look like this:

1) No.
2) Yes it can have a nature or back capsule applied to it but not the spooky one since it will turn your pokemon into an event sprite.
3) Yes.
4) You can use a nature capsule and specialpotion but not the sparkle ball.
