For all those people, like me, who are in desperate need of an intervention.

Not that we would EVER agree to such nonsense! ....besides...kinda busy here, I need more gold for the next level watering can, and I have a pregnant cow to look after! :sob:

Anywho! Anyone else love this game?

Current obsession: Animal Parade <3

It was a good game ^^

I get bored of the game before the first year is over. The game seems more like a chore than a game to me. I usually sell my starting cow so I won't have to deal with it. Don't get me wrong, though, it's one of my favourite series.

Edit: I have "A Wonderful Life". Also, is Rune Factory relevant enough to this topic?

It better be. I adore the Rune Factory series.

I personally own A Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life, Friends of Mineral Town, More Friends of Mineral Town, Magical Melody, Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade. My favourite of this list would be tied between Magical Melody and Animal Parade, as I adore the use of an expansive achievements system in MM but also love the customization in AP. That and actually using your family as slaves was another really nice addition.

I can definitely see where the game can become rather repetitive. I'm definitely guilty of starving my animals because I simply get sick of a season (typically Spring or Winter). Unless you have a set goal in mind (mine always tends to be 'become town casanova'), it becomes boring fast. A major flaw in ToT, in my opinion, was the distance to get to the goddamn springs that were all the way up that poorly designed mountain which took up too much in-game time. That being said, I'd love to see a game be released with a plot that took some effort to complete. Even the bells in ToT and AP were incredibly easy to get.

D: Ah I loved the series. I just never got the time to play it in full. XD The one I played the most was Another Wonderful Life out of the series (didn't try Rune Factory much). I'm not that great of a farmer, so besides having limited chores (and funds, likewise), I liked it more for befriending the town than for farmwork. (Although I care a lot for the animals). I think the last time I played I had three different files for all three bachelors, and only ever finished for Rock and Marlin, I think.

Spoiler: show
:sob: I'm so proud of mah boi with Marlin cuz he turned out to be a dutiful rancher. No doubt better than meh. Rock on the otherhand tried to go be an artist... :bah: He's...great....

I love the Harvest moon series but it's gotten kind of repetitive for me lately :( Does Rune Factory count for this topic since I'm more focused on it right now (playing number 3).

I own Back to Nature, Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life, HMDS Cute, Island of Happiness, Sunshine Island, Grand Bazaar and Magical Melody and Save the Homeland. My favorite would have to be the Wonderful Life ones since you actually age and your kid grows up.

Ah, Harvest Moon. I started with Friends of Mineral Town! I was so happy when More Friends of Mineral Town came out and allowed me to play as a girl. I didn't really enjoy the Wonderful Life series, it was nice your kid could age and all, but, I found it to be more tedious than fun.

Lately I've been playing Tree of Tranquility. I married Calvin, but I find he's kind of dull. My daughter just started crawling.

My favorite is Sunshine Islands, there's just something about Vaughn that I adore. I really wanna get back to playing this one. <3

I own: Friends of Mineral Town, More Friends of Mineral Town, Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life, Harvest Moon DS, HMDS Cute, Sunshine Islands, Rune Factory 1 and 2. Tree of Tranquility is my sister's but she's cool enough to let me play. *w*

Yes I've played Harvest Moon, and it's one of my favourite series.

The first one I played was Back to nature on PS1; It’s my favourite of the series. I also liked the GBA Version as well.

The games I have are: Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, Friends of Mineral Town, A Wonderful Life, The Original Game Boy one (or GBC) Harvest Moon DS, Island of Happiness, Sunshine Islands, Tree of Tranquillity, Animal Parade and Rune Factory 2.

I didn't like Tree of Tranquillity that much, I found the story of saving the spirits a bit annoying (still need to get them all and their requests done, haven't played it much due to my Wii not always working with it) same with load times and that, the Sequel is better, I've done part of the story and about in the middle of Spring first year i think, and DS cause the one i had (Original American Version, don't ask why I had that one and not the EU version) had some annoying glitches and one forced me to restart my file twice since the file became unplayable, I also disliked the Control's on Island of Happiness, which I'm glad they fixed in Sunshine Islands. I liked the others though, and these as well, but they had some things which i disliked about them a lot.

Also, about Rune Factory 2, how would I make the story progress? Do I have to get married or something? Also, how would I get animals and expand my house/make buildings and that? Also, is it true that you get a game over if you lose your entire HP? Since I heard that somewhere, but never tried it out. Thanks.

I'm not really a big fan of tree of tranquility or magical melody (Still kinda like them but would rather play others) :uhhuh:

@TYFB you can marry in ToT, it just takes a while to build up your potential spouse ^^

A really good site for hm questions is http://www.fogu.com/hm/ some games have more info about them on here, but it's really useful whether you are a beginner, you are lost at what to do, or you just want to see what the towns people like best for gifts. :yay:

I know you can marry in ToT (Like with most games in the series), I’ll also look at that site later, I used that site for help on the other DS Harvest Moon's. I may look at guides and write the information down as well, so I don't forget any of it.

Also, I never got the chance to play the N64 Version, it never got an EU release at all, and it will never be on Wii VC, which is a shame.

I also remembered that I also have Magical Melody, though Since I live in the UK, we didn't get the game till 2008, meaning we got one for the Wii, I liked it, but the motion control's were a bit annoying (Something Animal Parade fixed, I believe, which is nice), they also removed the option to be a girl, I'll never unerstand why it took 2 years for it to come out after America... :bah:

Something which is a bit annoying is that the recent ones come out about 2 years after the Japan release in Europe (and about a year after the Japan release in America) it might be that there is more to translate or something, though it's nothing major.

I love harvest moon.. my first game was Harvest Moon 2 for the GBC and Back to Nature not long after and I loved both to death :yay:
I also own (More) Friends of Mineral Town (they deleted the green house and the event where you could go to the fireworks with Kai as a boy :sob: ), DS Cute, Island of Happiness (never got married in that one o.o don't like the controls), Sunshine Island, Grand Bazaar, A Wonderful Live (never got past Chapter 3) and Animal Parade. And maybo I should also mention Rune Factory 1 and 2 here.

I'd like to Play AP more, but my little sister is constantly blocking the Wii so I'm stuck with playing my DS games atm.. well, maybe there is a chance for me to get married in GB like this.

mhm.. if you're still with the first generation (Kyle was his default name I belief?) then yes, you must marry~ and build the school afterwards. Your Farmer will then leave and you play with your son or daughter for the rest of the game (the dungeons also get harder and longer).
for animals you must go to the major and build a barn.. i'm not sure where but you get this glove-thing from a request and can tame mosnter with it
and yes, it's game over if you die in a dungeon :p
