As the title says, what was the first game you ever played, and how old were you? Who/what got you into it? Did you suck at it?
If you don't remember, your first shooter, or role-playing game, platformer, etc. works too.

I'm wondering how many people's favorite video games are also their firsts.

First owned: Pokémon Yellow. :yay: I got it for my 9th birthday along with my GBC.
First played must've been my cousin's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on N64 and/or one of the Super Smash Bros Melee on I-didn't-know-what-it-was-at-the-time.
All three series are still among my favorites, yes :)

Pokemon Yellow :) I mean I used to watch my sister play her PC games before that, but Pokemon was my first that was all my own.

I...I don't remember :sob: Pokemon Red was my first console game, but I know I played SimFarm and SimAnt (and those other cereal box Sim games. SimAnt was awesome.) on the PC around that time. I also played Kings Quest VI (never finished it) and Zork: The Grand Inquisitor (which I want to replay so bad, but the CD doesn't work anymore).

Super Mario World, probably. I was... three years old when I started playing, I believe. My parents liked video games, so they got the SNES as soon as it came out.

My first video game was... I think mortal combat. (Did I spell that right?) on the Super Nintendo. Ahh Those were the days :)

The first video game I ever played was....
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on my old, old Sega.
I was like...4 or 5 then.

I think my first was also one of the Sonic games for Megadrive... Or possibly Earthworm Jim, or Ecco the Dolphin. At any rate, the Megadrive was my first console! Good memories.

Oh gosh. First game I played? Probably Pinbot for the NES. If not that then it was probably Super Mario Bros. Either way it was an NES game. And I was around four or five years old then. The Mario games are what got me into video games though. I didn't really get into them until my family got an N64 though. We played Mario Kart like every single day after we got it.

First game I owned myself was probably Pokemon Silver though.

First game that I played was probably something like Tetris or Sonic at my cousins'. Oh, wait, actually, there was a first-person shooter on my family's MS-DOS machine that I wasn't supposed to play because it was rated for teens (unsurprisingly, this didn't exactly stop me). It was called Wolf-something or other.

First game that I owned was Pokémon Yellow, since my mum didn't believe in having video games in the house.

Seconding Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega. That's also a pretty morbidly hilarious tale... For a different day, though.

I haven't the foggiest idea. Probably something on the Atari.

My first action RPG other than a local Turma da Mônica game (don't ask) was Landstalker for the Sega Genesis (I was happy in my pants when the same team worked on Alundra for the PS1 many years later). First strategy RPG was Shining Force II, also Sega Genesis. Strangely, my first 'classic' RPG was Final Fantasy VII (...13 years ago) - before I got a PS1 I had no access to games outside of what the local video renter had to offer, which was a tiny selection. Before then I mostly played racing and fighting games. Since then however 99% of what I play are RPGs.

Probably SIMCity or something from my 1000 DOS Games collection.
Hugo's Mansion was so fun!
Yeah, surely something on the PC though when I was around 3 or 4.
((I started reading at age three and video games followed quickly.))

It would've been something on my mom's Super Nintendo like Super Mario Brothers or Mega Man, but she wouldn't let me touch it because she loved that thing.

When I was three my parents bought me a Sega Genesis, which was my first ever gaming platform. I don't remember which game they got for me first - I think it was something like Barney or Crystal Pony Tales (I was three, after all) - but I eventually ended up with an arcade game pack which had Golden Axe on it, which I loved, and of course there was Sonic the Hedgehog. Good memories.

Barbie Groovy Games for GBA... :bah: I felt so awesome playing a game meant for 6-year-olds according to the ESRB, and I was 5 and 3 quarters at the time. I gave the game away to some kid years ago.

My first video game was something like The Busy World of Richard Scarry. It was on CDI, and that's pretty much all I can remember. |:
The first I bought with my own money was FFIX, though, and you can say that's what really got me into video games. ♥
