[UMC] Ultimate Monotype Club!

This is the official Ultimate Monotype Challenge Club on VDex! This club exists for people who have taken or wish to take on the mighty UMC. As you go from game to game, you will move up in club rank until finally you reach the top. When you finish your UMC you will be crowned an Elite Four Champion of the type that you used and have your name listed on the first page of this club. :3 Besides taking on the Ultimate Monotype Challenge, you can also take the Single Monotype Challenge. Everyone is free to join and post updates, share their thoughts, and ask for tips.
The Monotype Challenge is a set of rules imposed on oneself to raise the difficultly of the Pokemon games. Many people take on this particular challenge to "master" their favorite type or to become familiar with one they rarely use. Those who have accepted the challenge must play through at least one game of their choice using only one of the seventeen Pokemon types.
Playing through all five games using only one type is called an ULTIMATE Monotype Challenge! Attempting this can take a long time and requires a lot of motivation but it can be done! Players who believe they are not yet ready to embark on this vast journey may join and take on the Single Monotype Challenge instead.

C L U B R U L E S
These are the general club rules that everyone must abide by. Feel free to ask questions if you have any!
◎ All VDex forum rules apply.
◎ You may use any type that you want, even if someone else is using it.
◎ You can take as many challenges as you wish.
◎ You may begin and quit any challenge at any time.
◎ You must provide updates so that I know you are actually doing the challenge. You can post these updates offsite (example: LiveJournal), in your journal, or in this thread.
◎ There are five ranks in this club. As you complete games in your challenge you will move up in rank.
◎ Once you have fully completed a challenge, you must notify me or Kismet via PM to be added to the Hall of Fame.
C H A L L E N G E R U L E S
SMC/UMC rules may vary depending on what site they are posted on. What I have listed below are, I feel, the rules generally accepted by everyone familiar with the challenge.
◎ Every Pokemon on your team must have at least one type in common. Dual-type Pokemon are allowed.
◎ Legendary Pokemon are not allowed.
◎ Trading Pokemon from other games is allowed only for evolutions that require it.
◎ No hacking or cheating.
◎ You may use an emulator if you prefer so long as you abide by the previous rule.
◎ HM slaves are not required to share a common type with your team, but you cannot use them in battle.
◎ When you begin your journey the only Pokemon you are permitted to use is your starter. If your starter is a different type than what you wish to use for your challenge, you must catch a pokemon of your chosen type as soon as possible and cease using your starter when you do.
◎ With the exception of the second and fifth generation games, each challenge ends once you have beaten the Elite Four. In GSC you must defeat Red, and in BW you must defeat the E4 twice.With the introduction of BW2, you must beat Kyurem.
◎ You are allowed to use the same type as someone else.
◎ All rules for the Single Monotype Challenge apply.
◎ You must use the same type for all five games.
◎ You can substitute RBGY with FrLg and GSC with HgSs, or BW with BW2.
Optional Rule;
◎ Go in the order that the games were released; i.e. RBGY (or FrLg) ▷ GSC (or HgSs) ▷ RSE ▷ DPPt ▷ BW (or BW2)
Ghost-, Dragon-, Ice-, Dark-, and Steel-type Pokemon are discouraged from being used because of their rarity in earlier generations, but you are still welcome to use these types if you wish. If you want to use any of these types you may ignore the third and fourth rules so long as you are not exploiting them to make the game easier.
For those who are taking the Psychic challenge, You are permitted to use your starter until your first psychic pokemon learns a damaging non-psychic move, Including TMs. This is to allow you to still take down Dark Types early in the games. You are however, restricted to not evolve your starter.

There are a total of six ranks in this club. Everyone starts off as a student, and members who complete at least one game (i.e. the SMC or 1/5 of the UMC) will become Gym Trainers. After achieving the second rank, you must use the same Pokemon type in succeeding generations if you wish to continue moving up.
So, for example, if you beat Pokemon Blue using Flying-type Pokemon and then start another game using Rock-type Pokemon, you will not move up in rank. However, you can return to any challenge you have previously started at any time. So if you play through Pokemon Silver using Flying-type Pokemon after your Rock-type run, you will then move up to the Gym Leader rank.

Ask a question; get an answer! If you're uncertain about something that I did not cover in the rules, I will add it here (along with my response) to avoid further confusion.
Q. Can I use _____ if it is not the same type I have chosen, but will eventually evolve into it?
A. Yes, this is perfectly fine! Evolution is unique way to obtain Pokemon -- for some, it is the only way to obtain them. So, as long as you make certain to evolve it at the earliest stage possible, you can use it.
Q. Can I use _____ if it's type used to be the same as the type I have chosen, but now lacks said type because it has evolved?
A. In thise case, users typically decide to not evolve their Pokemon. You can evolve it if you wish to obtain it's Dex data, but you will no longer be able to use it if you do. For example, you can take a Water Monotype Challenge with Surskit on your team, but you must keep it from evolving if you want to keep it on your team.
Q. Can I take the Ultimate Monotype Challenge with Steel- or Dark-type Pokemon?
A. Absolutely. Because they do not exist at all in RBGY, you may skip the first generation of games and begin with generation 2. They're still quite rare, though, so good luck!

The Vault
As a reward for your long endeavors, pocket and I have created the Vault.
When you have redeemed yourself, Gym Leader Ranked and higher, You will be permitted to keep one of these pokemon found within the vault!
AND if you are and E4 Member or Champion, you will be permitted access to taking elusive Shiny Pokemon!
Please don't think of this as a way to get free pokemon, any new member after Pikachu_Rox :)

Just post in the thread with a link to the pokemon what you want, and we'll tell you if you can have it or not~ We shall initiate the trade.
If you have pokemon you would like to DONATE to the club, use it as fodder, or send Pocket or I a trade saying "Donation to UMC"~

Yep, emulators are allowed. :3 There are many reasons one may choose not to use one, though, and I respect them all.~
While playing my Grass-type UMC, I never used the same Pokemon twice. It was just an extra CHALLENGE I gave myself, so I could get to know as many grass mons as possible! I totally would have used Jumpluff more than once if I didn't give myself that extra restriction. :3

Also, an emulator is basically a virtual game console that you can use to play video games on your computer (and cell phone, as well!). I used an emulator to play Pokemon Blue, Crystal, and Emerald on my phone. |D;

So I managed to convince two of my friends to start a monotype challenge, we are all going to do hg/ss with our chosen types as a form of race (to see who can defeat red first). Its ironic because we did this when we all first bought the game, we all bought it together and we all started together. it was amazing, and here we go again - but harder!

Boyfriend: Ground
Friend 1: Flying
Friend 2: Psychic
So that will be really amusing!
I convinced them because it was a popular topic I talked about during my week away ahhaah!
