Favorite character(s) and why: Legolas, because of the film - I was 12 when the first came into cinamas and of course I was one of those girlies then ;) Elladan and Elrohir, because twins are cool and Glorfindel and Erestor (and now you're going to hit me, buuuuut.. they and the twins are part of the Lord of the Rings Fanfiction I ever read.. and we don't know too much about them, so they are great characters to play with..)

/Debating between watching/hunting for the book soon

Depends on when the film is shown in your country, if that's still far away.. go get the book. It's.. different, much more childish than lotr, and I hope they manage to put the film somewhere in the middle

TV doesn't even air about anything about new movies anymore... (somewhat a new rule or somesort... The government somehow put on a rule that everything we watches should be some kind of Indonesian movies... Which I don't like at all.)

... And I often resorts on watching in YouTube (if it's possible/legal/something of the sorts. I got to watch a comedy movie of the Robin Hood: Men in Tights in Youtube. xD)

For the book, it's just so difficult to look for... I guess I can have it for my birthday present - along with the HoME series -months away... /thoughtful

Why is it so difficult? Can't you go to a bookstore and ask them to get the book for you or order it from some internet shop?

I got a new collections album, that I will use for my nicknamed ones.. but the only one I got atm belongs to another collection

Well, there's no English bookstore that has Tolkien's work except of the Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun (which is not bad at all, but it still has nothing to do with ME from my PoV...), and the Second-hand bookshop's already empty in stock... If it's from the internet, well... My mom doesn't like to spend money online, she quite strict about keeping money.

Anyways.

For the legendary, it absolutely depends on you for their names. I gave their names if I'm reminded by a character just by looking at them. Ex: I give the name Glorfindel into Moltres... >>;;

That's kind of.. ironic, since he died through some fire-creature.. Poor Glorfindel :D
I guess I then just have to wait until something pops into my mind

The Hobbit isn't the best thing ever, but it's probably worth reading at least once as a Tolkien fan. :/

As for the Hobbit movie, idk, it feels weird to me for them to make it after LoTR :| Of course, yes, without the popularity from LoTR, the Hobbit is unlikely to sell many tickets.


Honestly, I'd like best to see the Silmarillion as a TV series. The Hobbit won't bring anything new, even people who have only seen the LoTR movies know Bilbo gets the ring. Welll I guess it'd be cool to see Smaug, but I'm more a fan of Glaurung :3

I want to know what they do about the fairy-ness of the elves in the hobbit. I mean.. they should be the same as in lotr, but.. they aren't. Just to think about how the party is welcomed in rivendell.. or how they manage to get though mirkwood.. Oh, and I want to see Legolas father :D

I thought about that since the moment I noticed the differences, but in the books, it was okay somehow.. but I hope that at least some characters are played by the same actors. (I didn't inform me on the film, I just wait until I get to see a trailer, so I don't know who plays who) Gandalf and Elrond at least.. And then I think "what will they do" and hope that it's more lotr-like.

Hm.. I could watch the films again some time.. I have difficulties getting that intro by galadriel right..
(When it was first on dvd, I watched it over and over, then switched from german to english because it started to be boring.. and then I started to know huge parts of the film by heart, the intro, the counsil in rivendell, galadriels speeches.. and I was 12 at the time, making me have.. like 2 years of english classes. I knew how to form passive sentences in english before we learned it :D)
