you want to become a soul reaper.
You each have some type of specialty that makes you eligible, the most common is a higher than reishi (spirit energy).

The academy is a two year program that develops a person’s skills so that they become a full fledged soul reaper. Kido, hand to hand combat, agility, and swordsmanship will be tested. With wooden swords in the academy and loaned swords outside of the academy for missions and drills, it is with high hopes that the academy strives to allow you to awaken your zanpakuto before graduation (though this is rare)

Each member will fill out a form displaying their strengths and weaknesses. What should be most noted is each student’s category. There are three. Tech, Speed, and Power.

Power

Power types have amazing physical and destructive abilities. Though they are usually slow, and although their accuracy can be poor, when their attacks hit, they do devastating damage. Some power types are amazing with defense, able to withstand even the mightiest blows. There is often a problem learning kido in this group. Many famous power types often avoid using kido, as they can hurt themselves if performed wrong. Some can’t even do the simplest of attacks. Power types often lose to the tech type’s wide range of attacks and strategies. They do well against the speed type, who once caught, will be at a major disadvantage. Best suited for squad 1,7, 8, and 11


Speed

Speed types are the fastest. They can attack and flee in the blink of an eye. Their close and long range attacks are impressive and can be done multiple times in succession. Their ability to learn kido is at a normal rate. They can get most kido down after practicing a bit. Their attacks are fast, and they can avoid getting caught, but their cuts are usually shallow and weak. Along with this, their defenses are often lacking as well. The ability to strike and get away is this group’s strongsuit, though surprising the opponent is handy as well. Speed types have trouble with power types. Their attacks are much stronger. 10 strikes from a speed type can equal 1 strike from a power type. They do well against tech types. Tech types need time to think up plans and perform intricate attacks. With no time to do so, Speed types often dominate. Best suited for squads 2, 6, 9, and 10


Tech

Tech types are crafty. They have a wide array of possibilities. They can perform the widest array of kido, think of intricate strategies, and perform in the most unique ways. Often sticking to kido alone, tech types can take control of the situation with the correct attacks. Heavy assessment of a situation is left to tech types, who often pull through. Learning kido is second nature to them, only needing to practice a few times before getting it. They do well against power types, using their own strength against them. The slower power type gives the tech type more time to plan and execute them. They have major trouble with speed types who can disrupt their plans as they are being made. Most suited for squads 3, 4, 5, 12, and 13

Zanpakuto’s, like in the series, are not necessarily your choice. Some soul reapers dislike their swords (such as yumichika ayesagawa, shuhei hisagi) and some can’t access their’s at all (kenpachi). In this rp, if and when you get your zanpakuto, you will get a choice of three, each with their own looks and powers. Each aspect will reflect on who your character is. It could be based on something you are missing, your strengths, your desires, ect. It will definitely have a relationship to your type. During the rp as a reward for certain accomplishments, you will receive a dream (which is how most zanpakutos communicate). The dram will consist of your zanpakuto spirit trying to tell you its name through speech or actions. Only after a set number of dreams can you manifest your sword. The name and summoning words are up to you, as well as the form that your spirit takes.

For the academy, you will be given wooden swords and (surprisingly) asuachis. During exercises, you will be loaned a real sword. Upon graduation of your first year, you shall receive a real sword.

as a beginner, incantations are the only way to use kido. After a while, with a lot of training, single digit kido will be able to be used without an incantation. You can just speak the attack. Since there are over 100 kido, we can use this as a prize system.

Kidō Classification

Barriers created by noble blood are said to be unbreakable by those of lesser status. Certain barriers can be placed beforehand and activated later, while others require certain artifacts and time to activate.
Seals: Somewhat similar to barriers, but far more powerful and require far more preparation to create. Seals can only be used by those of sufficient spiritual power being who are meant to hold the most powerful and/or dangerous artifacts or beings. Seals are usually hard to break.

Hadō (破道, lit. "Way of Destruction"): Offensive spells which inflict direct damage to the enemy. Their effectiveness differs depending on the user. It is said the effectiveness of the higher-ranked spells are beyond imagination.

Kaidō (回道, lit. "Turn Way"): Also known as healing Kidō (治療用鬼道, chiryōyō kidō). These spells do not have known names, numbers, or incantations to cast, and simply heal the target. As the user holds his/her hands above the patient's wounds, his/her palms glow with green spiritual energy to facilitate healing. When one heals with regular healing kidō, they perform Reiatsu restoration first. By doing so, one can attempt to recover the physical body using the patient's restored reiatsu and the healer's external reiatsu. Therefore, restoring the reiatsu when the physical body is in a fully healed state is no trouble at all.

Nijū Eishō (二重詠唱, "Twofold Incantation"): a class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner mixes the incantations of two entirely separate Kidō spells together to save time and confuse their opponent at the same time.
Kōjutsu Eishō (後述詠唱, "Spoken-After Incantation"): A class of Kidō Incantation where the incantation is recited after initiating the spell in order to power it up. So far, only Hachigen Ushōda has been seen using this technique, in order to reinforce the nature of his Ryūbi no Jōmon during his fight against Baraggan Louisenbairn.
Kidō is commonly used in instances of surprise attacks, rather than all-out assaults, being most effective when one's opponent does not see it coming. Kidō is usable with just the spell name and no incantation or spell number.

Rangiku Matsumoto states that it is number 12, but does not specify whether it is a Destructive or a Binding Spell although from the name and effect, it is highly likely to be a Binding spell.

Gender: female

Appearance: With a delicate build and a height of 4'10" (147.32 cm), Renri seems fragile, weak - an impression of which she has never failed to take advantage. Her veritable mane of long black hair is often just a tiny bit windswept despite her best attempts to keep it neat and clipped back, and her eyes are dark grey and concealed behind silver-rimmed glasses. Although she has a marked fondness for scarves and leans towards inconspicuous but tasteful jewelry, Renri never accessorizes her academy uniform, and in fact, very few of her classmates have ever seen her wearing anything but the uniform.

Personality: If you're looking for someone to have a fun time at a party with, Renri is not your girl. Introverted, cynical, and solemn, Renri would much rather be alone cozying up to a good book. In fact, socializing with her at all is a joke at best: Renri has no patience for meaningless chatter and, despite her polite exterior, can be bitingly blunt when it comes down to it. Strip away the mild surface (if you can), and you'll find someone who is largely indifferent and unknowingly insensitive, and a brilliant, even psychologically manipulative, liar when needed. Fortunately, she does have a well hidden soft spot for children, although she isn't any less awkward around them....
Above all, Renri is a rational, cerebral person. She values independence and thinking for oneself, and she will stubbornly adhere to her beliefs no matter what the cost.

History: After arriving at the Soul Society, Renri was sent off to live in the sixth district of East Rukongai. She learned within days that her needing to eat meant that she had spiritual power (and thus could potentially join the shinigami ranks), but she still chose to stay in Rukongai and live alone for three years, savoring the solitude that she'd never been granted while she was alive. A sense of aimlessness eventually drove her to take the entrance exam for the Shinigami Academy, however, and she passed on her first attempt.

Five in the morning and Carys was up with the sun, pulling her pale blond hair into its usual tight ponytail and slipping on her sneakers. It'd been nine months since she'd come to the surface, and she hadn't missed her daily early morning run since the second day: for nineteen years, she'd been unaware of how the sun and the wind and the rain felt on her skin, and now she was going to savor it all for as long as it lasted.

"Come on, Mara," Carys said as she opened the door and dropped a kiss on her Stoutland's head. "Does Lake Valor sound good today?" Mara barked quietly in response and led the way down the street, leaving Carys to catch up with her.

The terrain of what used to be Route 214 was rocky, downright treacherous at parts, but Carys and Mara ran it with a practiced ease. For a while, there was only the sound of the two of them panting and of sneakers and paws hitting the dusty ground - huff huff, thump thump. It was the kind of companionable silence that Carys liked best, the kind of silence she'd learned to love all the more after moving aboveground: like all underground communities, the one she'd grown up with had been tightly packed and full of the constant hustle and bustle of hundreds of busy lives. It was rare for any place to be so quiet as Route 214 was during sunrise.

Carys glanced at her watch as they took a breather halfway down the route. Since it was a Saturday morning and she didn't have to report back at the police academy at eight, she'd deliberately suggested a longer run, but still - Lake Valor was quite a distance from the Veilstone settlement. Appearance: A quite feminine build with a height of 4'11" (149.9 cm), she seems like the damsel in distress we see in fairy tales. Sora has red hair, with a couple of colorful streaks (black, yellow, blue), some of which is tied into two separate strands by a rubber, and shining blue eyes invisible behind brown contact lenses. She has never had a thing with fashion, always having someone else pick out her clothes for her. Arriving at the Soul Society for the first time, she wore a green checkered blouse over a white shirt with long tight jeans and red sneakers, with many accessories such as a couple of rubber bracelets and and a pair of skull shaped earrings. She also has a tattoo of Fenrir, the mythical wolf at her back.

Personality: You'd like a friend? Sora is the one for you. A smile has never left her face, her upbeat and cheery personality has always lightened up the room. Despite her stature she is no damsel in distress, quite the opposite, she is one who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. Due to always attracting Hollows, she lost the feeling of being surprised, so don't think you can get a fast one on her, also she has a knack in hiding, singing and crafts.

History: Arriving in the Soul Society, she was put in District 15 of the Northern Rukongai. Due to her leaking spiritual pressure, Hollows have always tailed her, making her get shunned by her new friends. While in the Soul Society, she obtained a little habit of making new things out of old things, renewing them. One day, while she was making an order to one of the residents a Hollow barged in her home and attacked her. This one was different than the others, this one was huge. She began to panic, she got used to the medium sized ones, but never the big ones. She thought it was the end until... SLASH She opened her eyes to see the hollow cut in two, dissapearing, and revealing a man in black garments. The man saw how skinny the girl was and fetched her something to eat. She gobbled it all down, not getting any fatter in the process. When she was finished eating the man said "What a huge appetite. You must have a lot of spiritual pressure" she stopped eating after those words "Is that why? Is that why those hollows keep chasing me?" The man stood up and asked her to follow him. She packed her clothes and stuff and followed the man. He stopped at a large building "This is the Shinigami Academy. Once you graduate you'll become someone who'll risk their lives for other people, be loved. Its your choice though." He walked away, never to be seen again. She stood there, thinking of the people that would be saved instead of dangered by her spiritual pressure. She entered the building, after being admitted into the school, she began her new academy life.

She approached Juniper Labs and knocked on the door. Out came a big-haired woman in a lab coat "Ah! You must be here to get your pokemon! Come in! Come in!" Adrianna was dragged inside to a fancy looking computer where out come three pokeballs. "These three will be your starter pokemon. But You can only choose one. This is Roggenrola, this pokemon takes the saying "hard-headed" to a whole new level. This is Volbeat, a pokemon originating from the Hoenn Region. And this is Deino, this dragon pokemon is very naughty and likes to play tricks on people. Now choose wisely" Adrianna had to think about it for a while thinking of how she will care for the pokemon, and they're style. "I choose Deino" The professor seemed surpised on her decision, but just let her choose her decisions. "Before you go. This is pretty much a standard for every professor to give. You might already know that. Here is a pokedex, different from the ones in Sinnoh and 5 pokeballs" She then exited the lab followed by a good luck by the professor.

She decided to release her new Deino in route 1, thinking of what will happen if she released him in town. She then preceeded to release the dragon in an open field. "We should agree on a name for you. Nozu? Yamata? Orochis? Or Draco!" The dragon nodded no for the first 3 and smiled for the last one. "Draco it is then!" The happy dragon started to cling at her side, like most of the boys back in Sinnoh. "First boys, now pokemon. Males sure fall head over heels for me" she thought. Draco heard some rustling in the bushes and started to growl. "Grrr"

There are a few things that I see that this application should have changed =I

Since she is already a soul, she cannot take things like accessories and especially a guitar to the afterlife. At best, you can have one that was made in the soul society. Though due to the limited resources and poverty, the instrument would be shabby or handmade. You can have the guitar being made by your character to explain it better.

The guitar would not be allowed to be worn or used during school hours or missions. so...it might not be the best idea

Second, Your character would not have any knowledge of the captains nor of any high ranking soul reapers. The actions of all notable characters are to be decided by me and the others that I choose to help me. As it was pointed out in the interest thread, everyone joins the academy due to slightly higher spiritual pressure than other souls along with some type of desire to become a soul reaper.

Last, the workings of the academy have not been stated yet, so I would prefer that you not mention anything about how you got in.

Since the seireitei is out of reach of normal souls, no one in the rp should have any details of the workings of the seireitei nor its officers.

Appearance: Mika has long light blonde hair that is usually tied up into either a french braid or a ponytail. If she left it down her hair would be quite wavy and reach her waist. Her eyes are a deep brown and are usually framed by small rectangular shaped glasses. Freckles are dotted on her nose and her cheeks. Her build is quite small, which helps her with speed, and she is about 5'6.
Personality: Mika is rather shy, except when engaged with a fight. Without the fight, she is tends to be jumpy and over cautious. Which makes her sort of a wimp. The lack of confidence doesn't help either. Yet she is pretty graceful on her feet. On the other hand when fight presents itself to her personality takes a complete u-turn and it's like a whole different person. Mika's confidence shoots up and her usually soft voice turns into a loud roar. Her interests are in reading or writing in her journal. Mika dislikes when people read her journal and bullies.
History: Mika was just a pretty ordinary soul living in the fourth district in east Rukongai. But as a months passed on she experienced hunger and the need for food, which was an indicator of some spiritually energy. She figured that out after a few months, but being a bit shy, she was afraid to go take the entrance exams to become a soul reaper. It took her a few months to work up the courage to take the exam and she passed with a fairly good score.

She was hired by a family of rich nobles to put an end to you for unknown reasons. The ravened hair girl checked the photo and back at her target. Quickly she advanced ,hoping for a quick end, but she tripped and knocked a few crates over also causing her to drop her sword. So much for the quick and stealthy approach.

omg I just wanted to say that I love bleach. I think I just started watching it this year, but I finished the anime already lol. (Does anyone know if it's ever coming back? :x -- will probably make a character for this soon )

Personality: Vincent speaks calmly. He's somewhat stubborn but brave and adventurous. He's quiet but once his shell is broken he may come off as slightly rude and cocky. He has a warm heart with the desire to protect others from harm. He doesn't like seeing people being mistreated. He is very empathetic but he has a sense of duty, what must be done must be done.
History: Vincent lived in the first district of the West Rukongai, Junrinan. He arrived shortly after his death and he was shunned from the people of Junrinan. He lived alone in a abandoned and dirty shack. People would give him nasty looks. Vincent hadn't done anything wrong though, had he? Perhaps it was the way he looked. His light blue hair and gold eyes instantly made him an outcast. He was fine with that, he kept to himself and analyzed everyone. One day, a few children of Junrinan were trying to play a prank on Vincent when they were attacked by hollows. Hollows always appeared around him. Was it his fault these children were getting attacked? Vincent, grabbing a iron bar defeated the hollow. The kids ran away from him, calling him a freak and blaming him for the hollow appearing. He had heard about a thing called the Shinigami Academy where he could learn to protect others...That's wanted he wanted to do. His heart had a strong desire to help those in need. He applied to the Shinigami Academy and he made it in.

Aizen wasn't killed. He was imprisoned and gagged for... 2000 years I think it was. He can't be killed since he bounded with the stone that Urahara had made. Unless you mean that this is a mild AU that Ichigo killed Aizen instead of just defeating him...!
