Darkness Rising: A Shadow Pokemon RP OOC/SU THREAD HERE
THE STORY:
It is the year 2012 and things in the region of Orre have never looked bleaker. The sinister criminal team known as Cipher has made a comeback yet again, and they are stronger than ever before. A few years back, the remnants of the previous Cipher all banded together under a nameless leader. Together, they went to the recently discovered region of Unova in hopes of finding a new source of power there. Using all their strength - and a bit of luck - Cipher managed to find and capture the legendary pokemon Victini and bring it back to Orre. They have since closed its heart and used its powers of victory to regain all their lost power, becoming more powerful than ever before. They now exert a great deal of control over many cities in the region, such as Gateon Port, Agate Village, and Pyrite Town. They have also restarted their initiative to create Shadow Pokemon, emotionless beings turned into fighting machines. With Victini granting them victory in all their endeavors, and a hoard of Shadow Pokemon at their disposal, Cipher is now unstoppable. Or at least, they seem to be…
The Pokemon HQ Lab, run by Professor Krane, has yet to be overtaken by Cipher. But that may change very soon. Pokemon HQ has been weakened by Cipher’s attempts at gaining control, and they need help. Badly. Recalling the successful defeat of Cipher years before, Professor Krane decided to send out a call for volunteers. Anyone who wants to help in the fight against Cipher, whether they’re a pokemon trainer or not, is called to the HQ where they will receive a basic set of equipment to help them on the journey ahead. Who will answer the call? Only those who are brave enough will be able to take on such an influential criminal organization. But who knows? Bravery can be found in many unexpected people.
~~~~~~~~~~
RULES AND OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS:
-Please use the OOC Thread to chat with each other while not in character, ask questions, make comments, etc. -Please follow the forum rules set by Shiro. -Please no godmodding or bunnying. It’s just not nice. -Keep it PG-13. A bit of romance or violence is fine, but nothing graphic. Keep it clean. As for swearing, ones like ‘damn’ are okay, but stronger ones must be bleeped out if used. (Though preferably not used at all.) -As the Mod, my word is final. You must also listen to the second-in-command (that is, once I get one). -My favourite pokemon as a kid was Squirtle. -This is a SEMI-LITERATE RP. Each post must consist of at least a few sentences. No one-liners. If you’re stuck on what to say, just elaborate on what your character is thinking/feeling/etc. -There will be no ‘levels’ as such in this RP. You and your pokemon will progress through the story and gain experience while you go. Your pokemon may evolve when I believe it has enough exp. (Still working on how to figure that out.)
*This is my first time running an RP so please, go easy on me :P
LOCATIONS:
Pokemon HQ - Run by Professor Krane and his assistant Lily. This is where you will receive your equipment and start your journey. There is a Purification Chamber here, but it is currently broken. It has undergone many attacks from Cipher, but has managed to hold out so far.
Dr. Kaminko's Lab - Dr. Kaminko and his ever-loyal assistant Chobin live here. He is still busy inventing random things, only some of which are actually useful.
Gateon Port - Usually a thriving port city, it's business has gone down ever since Cipher's take over. News has spread of Ciphers return, and people are afraid of traveling to Orre now. The decrease in international travel means that the city is only about half as prosperous at it once was. The PokeMart and Machine Parts Shop have managed to remain in business, and Club Krabby is still a pretty popular place for workers and sailors to hang out and see a show. The lighthouse is still operational for the few ships that do decide to visit the region.
Agate Village - A beautiful foresty town where retired trainers live with their pokemon. It used to be a happy, peaceful place until Cipher invaded. The newly risen organization was at the peak of it’s new power; the elders of Agate were no match for them. Cipher now controls the Relic Forest/Cave/Stone. Eagun, the leader of Agate (yes, he’s still alive), is being held hostage in his own home. Cipher knows that if the citizens were to unite under Eagun’s influence, they would gain confidence and rebel.
Pyrite Town - A bit of a shady place, Pyrite Town used to be a mining town with a heavy criminal undertone. People used to distribute Shadow Pokemon before Wes and Rui stopped them. A bunch of thugs and scoundrels live here because the halt in mining made people lose their jobs. Roughneck trainers gather here to battle themselves and outsiders, forcing them to battle. Rumor has it that Cipher may have weedled (haha pokepun) their way back into the criminal underground and are distributing Shadow Pokemon again, but so far no evidence has been found. (Places of Interest: Duel Square, Duking's House, Fateen's Fortune Telling, PokeMart, Pyrite Super Grand Hotel, ONBS, Pyrite Colosseum.)
Mt. Battle - A huge volcanic mountain that was renovated to be the ultimate trainer challenge. There are ten zones, each containing a professional pokemon trainer. Each zone is significantly harder than the last. The Lobby consists of a mini Pokemon Center, the Poke-Coupon Exchange, a Move Deleter, and the reception counter.
Realgam Tower - A gigantic tower that is used as a fancy hotel and a battling/gaming tower. You ride through the semi-buried tunnels to reach the tower. Inside, there are expensive decorations and paintings. On the main floor, there is a PC and a Mini Pokemon Center, a bar, a casino, and games. You can play Battle Sims: using a virtual party to practice your skills. At the very top is the Tower Colosseum where tournaments are held.
Phenac City - Built around an oasis in the southeast region of Orre, it is a beautiful sight to behold. The fountain in the center is constantly flowing like a waterfall. This city is well fortified from the wall that keeps the sand out, and it is full of aspiring trainers because of the influence of the Stadium and Gym. These reasons, plus having a ‘gym leader’ Justy, have kept Cipher from invading their city. It is currently the safest place in Orre. (Places of Interest: Pokemon Centre, Phenac 'Gym', Phenac Stadium.)
Shadow Pokemon Laboratory - Abandoned for years in the middle of the desert, there are no signs of it starting up again. Ciper already lost it twice. Perhaps they found a new place to construct a lab?
S. S. Libra - The wreck of a large ship that remains in the middle of the desert. It was destroyed by Cipher and XD001 a few years ago.
Citadark Isle - ?????
 Felix fidgeted in place with the slightest hint of impatience in his demeanor as he knelt down on the tiled floor aside his also seated Pokemon. The duo, in the positions they were fixed in now, stood at around the same height; the young boy keeping a rather occupied gaze while he combed through the fur of his Pokemon lightly with a soft brush, cautious not to go near any of the Absol's sensitive areas such as his legs which Finian strongly preferred to keep prim on his own. Free time of theirs has often been spent with bonding activities such as this; Felix being well aware of the affliction his Pokemon was under and the special treatment and attention he needed accordingly. It was a shame though, as soon as anyone else arrives, safely assuming that he was not at this task alone, there was a good liklihood that he would have to return his Absol to his respective Pokeball in fear of how he would react to strangers. He knew well enough what the disaster Pokemon was capable of and even found himself the owner of some scars that he would not be too proud to share as proof. Not dwelling on the thought much longer of how he was to casually rid the room of his Pokemon's presence, the boy's mind wandered off onto some other pressing topics. As he drifted away the brush in his hand slipped out of place and harshly got caught in a matted portion of Finian's fur; an action which elicited a hiss of disgust from the Absol but thankfully nothing physical in return. Felix was shocked back into his conscious place of mind accordingly. "I wonder if I'm in the right place..?" The concern occurred to him suddenly but wasn't pressing enough for him to move from his place. He had arrived earlier than expected though it was odd that he had yet to be greeted or even noticed by anyone for that matter. Not every day that a stranger wanders into a building a plops himself on the floor so casually that he may as well be mistaken as a fixture that has always been there. From here it was also notable how he was the first of the trainers to arrive. There were others coming, right? Oh how he hoped he would have some sort of companionship throughout the troubles that were bound to lie ahead. Felix couldn't even fathom a trainer in his right mind not responding to a matter of dire need such as this. As mentioned, these troubles were present in his mind but not enough to budge the aloof teenager from his seated position. He was content where he remained anyway. Such a beautiful room surrounded him; a simplistic metal and glass work of art that played off of the region's wonderful atmosphere, allowing in as much light as possible to keep the area naturally lit. Granted it was nothing in comparison to the Realgam Tower, which the boy had never visited himself mind you and had only viewed in pictures, but it was still impressive for the status of the region he was in. Felix waited quietly and contently from here on out in the lobby of the Pokemon HQ which was designated to him, waiting as patiently as was possible for him for others to arrive as well.
Lulu walked into the the room and saw the feathered trainer with his Absol. She sat down in a chair across form the boy and saw that he was brushing the Pokemon. Thank goodness plants don't have hair.
The disaster pokemon seemed unaffected by the tender care if the trainer. Is it focusing on me? She flash-backed to when miss Nova called her Little Miss Disaster. She leaned forward in her chair, trying to get a reaction from pokemon or trainer, she wanted to know how they acted, which could lead to her getting her way.
Her dark eyes scanned the area, looking around curiously. Poni sat on her, feeling happy to be the centre of attention of her Trainer. Her left arm, a mechanical arm twitched with the crackle of static electricity and she wondered what had happened. Her tinted glasses twinkled with the sunlight beating down on it as she crisscrossed her fingers, the metal making odd squeaky noises as they connected with her actual fingers. "I'm gonna say that they'll download this into my arm, right?" she thought to herself, after she had read that the Snag Machine looked deathly similar to the mechanical arm she donned.
Professor Krane, along with his right-hand woman, Lily, wandered into the lobby to check on the volunteers. Seeing only three children waiting in the seats, he sighed aloud. "I know this is some risky business, but I was hoping for at least a couple more..." he whispered to Lily. "Oh, no matter," said the Professor, reassuring himself. "These look like fine young people. I'm sure they'll do an excellent job." Standing in front of the reception desk, he decided that it was time for him to get the volunteer program underway. He cleared his throat. "Ahem... Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you all very much for answering our distress call in this time of need. Your support is greatly appreciated. Now, I see that all of you have a Pokemon already, so I won't need to address that issue. Instead, I'll jump right into my explanation of Shadow Pokemon... Though it seems that one of you may know many of the details already," noted the Professor as he glanced over at the Shadow Absol and it's trainer.
"Shadow Pokemon are Pokemon that have been captured by Cipher and had their hearts closed by... well, rather cruel methods which I will not get into at the moment. Because of this horrible treatment, they have come to mistrust any and all humans they see. They are extremely hostile, having become what Cipher calls the 'perfect fighting machine'. They seem to have lost the ability to feel love and companionship with any trainer. It's a sad story, but true nonetheless.
"It is our job to help these poor Pokemon and to stop Cipher from mistreating any more of them. You see, Pokemon whose hearts are closed don't necessarily have to remain that way. If trainers like you capture these Shadow Pokemon and show them the love and kindness that they so rightly deserve, their hearts will open up again. They need to form a bond with a kind-hearted human being in order to remember that they can be kind-hearted as well.
"Once their hearts are almost healed, they will need an extra boost from our Purification Chamber. Unfortunately, uh..." Professor Krane blushed, rather embarrassed at what he had to say next. "Well, we accidentally broke the Purification chamber in HQ. But no worries! Our best scientists are fixing it now. In the meantime, any Shadow Pokemon you catch will have to be purified at the Purification Stone in ---"
Agate Village! A feeble little town that we're in control of!" The doors to Pokemon HQ burst open and three strangely dressed people walked in like they owned the place. The tallest one took off his white helmet and went right up to Professor Krane. "Are these your new recruits? How pathetic. Little children won't be enough to stop us this time. Cipher is better than ever before. With Victini on our side, we can't lose!" The Cipher lackeys smirked and laughed, confident in their abilities. Another one turned to look at the volunteer trainers. "Hey boss, why don't we see what these kids are made of? Who knows, maybe they'll last five minutes?" The boss nodded and put his hand near his pokeballs. "Sure, sounds like fun. Let's play, kiddies." The three baddies spread out and each walked towards one of the volunteers.
Scrambling out of bed, Akito realized she had slept in. After trying her best to brush her teeth, eat, shower, and change in less than an hour, she took her Piplup's ball and scampered out of her room. Once she had strapped on her backpack quickly and put on her shoes, the girl ran out the door as fast as she could, hoping that she wouldn't be too late. Maybe they wouldn't be too mad?
As Akito ran to the lab that was marked on her map of the Orre region, she heard a loud clamor or voices and growls, people and Pokemon. She tried to guess where the source was,but after being wrong twice she wasn't in the most cheerful mood and decided to let out Ran for some company. As the Piplup came out of the ball and started to shuffle around with Akito, the trainer noticed the lab was up ahead, and the noise seemed to be coming from there--inside the lab. She approached a little closer, stepping onto the stony brown path to the lab, and glanced awkwardly through the sliding glass doors. There was a man in lab-like clothes--Professor Krane, maybe? Ran gave a startled chirp and pointed to the three strangers in front of the professor. Akito turned to get a better view, and saw the ones Ran has been talking about. They were in strange suits, white and black, with grayish shades on and sort of transparent gray things coming from their backs--like fairy wings, almost.
Akito started closer and after mustering up her courage, stepped through the glass doors, which slid open for her. She was right behind the strangers, and started to inch around them, hoping they wouldn't notice her; Ran, too, looked quite scared. There was a woman at the front desk, of average height but a bit on the tall side, with a pink lab coat and brown hair tied into a large bun. Her eyes were determined, and she looked disturbed, but not frightened as she stared at the strangers. There were also three kids--probably volunteers, like her. One was a boy with short brown hair and an angered-looking Absol; another was a girl who looked pretty normal; the last was another girl with a mechanical arm, with glasses. Before she could think much else Akito realized the strangers had probably noticed her and tried speaking up. "Who are you guys?"
Linda smiled darkly, putting Poni onto the ground. The Poliwag also seem to smile with her ridiculously enormous eyes, as if they had expected the peons to appear. "What defines a man is his weapons. Strip away his weapons and what is left behind is but a child. I despise such people." she began, her half-rimmed glasses glinting in the sunlight. Poni seemed to glow in the sun as well, strengthened by her Trainer. "Poni, Hynosis." The Poliwag aimed her swirl at the Peon and began chanting a series of odd phrases, trying to put them to sleep. If that wouldn't work...then she would have to fight. There was reasons why Poni was still a Poliwag even though there had a choice and she knew.
"Salvador's spikes aren't just for show. Poison sting!"
Salvador charged forward, his spikes dripping purple ooze. He dug into the peons thigh.
"Leave so you can prevent permanent damage! Humans aren't compatible with poison, just so you know."
 Having all the intention of returning his Pokemon upon the arrival of others, Felix was shocked to find that his Absol was behaving rather well thus far, even when the room they were in suddenly became densely populated. At least all of his previous fears about being at the right location were quenched in this moment. It was rather easy to pick out who in attendance was a trainer for hire like himself and who was an employee to this establishment, granted for the moment the air seemed too tense amongst strangers for any of them to be conversing just yet. For the sake of caution, Felix remained in a crouching position at his Pokemon's side though not looking as casual as he had before when they were alone. It was probably best after all for him to be ready at a moment's notice just in case the Disaster Pokemon at his side decided to snap for one reason or another. It was well understood by Felix that Finian, the animal that he was, had an above average sense of reading the air of any situation, and as long as no one was worth concern in the Absol's eyes, the trainer had no reason for himself to start getting nitpicky, though a few of these characters around him did seem a little shifty in appearances at the very least. It was soon to follow that Professor Krane, the mastermind behind this operation, made an appearance and began his briefing. Though he was obviously well aware of what he was getting himself into before arriving in the Orre region, Felix had not received much contact from Krane or any other figure involved for that matter prior to this meeting. In turn, this general rundown was well appreciated. It was all the better from there for him to be in the know of the fact that they even had a purification machine at their disposal, granted broken at the moment but with optimistic hopes of eventually being operable. Felix's mind began to wander off from the topic at hand, having heard past stories of things called "Snag Machines" being utilized in cases similar to this in an effort to strip Cipher and other affiliated groups from their Pokemon. It was comprehensible how such a power could be easily abused, but perhaps if he were able to show his trustworthiness to this gathered group here, he wondered if he would possibly get one of the mentioned items for his own use. The bulky piece of machinery in question was probably not exactly the most fashionable adornment though now that he thought about it. Surely when the time came he would be able to make some changes to that though~. Oh look, some new faces were arriving, shame they missed the starting portion of the presentation. Felix would have remained in his blissful train of thought if it wasn't for a low rumbling emanating out from where his hand was resting, which just so happened to be atop Finian's neck fur. The canine Pokemon was baring his teeth by this point and growling with the intent of intimidation. Felix quickly responded by tightening his grip around the Absol's neck and speaking softly in an attempt to calm him. He knew that he wouldn't be able to control his Pokemon if his emotions rose any higher and by now it was too late to try and get him back into his Pokeball. "What's the matter?" He inquired in a babyish tone, only getting no more than an angered bark of a response out of his Pokemon. It was then that the boy finally payed attention to what was going on before him. These were men from Cipher paying a visit. He wondered to how they even found out about the rebellion forming in the first place. As horrible as the situation was looking he refused to let loose Finian on the enemy until they drew Pokemon of their own. Quite a few of the other trainers he was apparently allied with seemed to be taking a more direct course of action and just attacking the men, but he couldn't find himself able to do as much. The whole point here was that he was against using Pokemon improperly as nothing less than trained killers. He could never directly order Finian to attack another human being unless his own life depended upon it. What these other trainers before him were doing was wrong, equally comparable to manufacturing Shadow Pokemon as that is what exactly they may as well be indirectly doing, closing the doors to their own Pokemons' hearts and filling them with battle lust. Felix was not amused at all.
((I'm going to colour code the cipher peons' speech so everyone knows who is saying/doing what.))
@dracoon - "What defines a man is his weapons. Strip away his weapons and what is left behind is but a child. I despise such people. Poni, Hynosis."
"Ha! What are you talking about, girlie? I wouldn't even need my Pokemon to... to..." The Peon began to feel woozy from the effects of Hypnosis. He began shaking his head back and forth, trying to keep himself awake. "Don't think.. don't think you'll knock me down... so easily." He grasped around his belt until he found his pokeballs. Randomly choosing one, he tossed it in front of him and released the pokemon inside. "Grimer!" The pokemon cried out and sent many shadowy waves at the Poliwag.
@shadow - Not wasting any time, Lulu and Salvador attacked the second Peon right away. The Cacnea ran at the Peon, stabbing poisonous spikes into his leg. "AAH!" He clutched at his leg as pain seared through it. "You'll pay for that, you little brat!" He reached for a pokeball and tossed it right beside Salvador. A red and yellow weasel looking pokemon knocked the Cacnea away using a Force Palm attack. It stood for a moment and meditated, focusing its mind. Meanwhile, the poison continued to flow through the Peon's veins. He tore a piece of cloth off of his uniform and made a tourniquet on his leg so the poison wouldn't spread anymore. "Boss! Gonna need some help over here."
@KW - "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" The Boss of the Cipher goons walked slowly up to Felix and Finian. "It seems you have a Shadow Pokemon of your own... How peculiar." He bent down and got as close to the Absol as he dared."How did you come to travel with this child, dark one? Why are you not with us, where you belong?" Finian growled at the Boss, so he stepped back and addressed Felix. "Why do you not fight me? That's what Shadow Pokemon are for, after all. Come on. Use the power that you have obtained from us." He picked the only pokeball he had off of his belt and tossed it in front of him. "Scyther, Scy!" A dark green Scyther with deep purple eyes appeared in front of Finian. "Now we can see who controls their power better."
"Boss! Gonna need some help over here." The subordinate called out to him. The Boss sighed internally. "Idiots." "What do you expect me to do? You were the one who got yourself poisoned. Solve your own problems."
@starberry - From behind him, the Boss head someone sneaking around. He turned to see a little girl and her Piplup. "Who are you guys?" she asked. "Hah. Ignorant girl. You don't even know the organization who's running the country. All you need to know is that you should not interfere here. Leave us to our business." He turned his attention back to the fight between Scyther and Finian.
Over behind the reception desk, the woman in the pink uniform beckoned the new girl over. "Please, come this way. I need your help."
Poni had a much higher Speed stat, easily avoiding the Grimer's moves. "First off, that is just plain awful. Grimers are already bad enough, let alone ones that don't have control of their emotions," she continued, not even moving from the man's threat. "Secondly, you wouldn't want to wrestle me because I have fought a Gengar on multiple occasions. Regrettable, no? I think it'll be hiliarous to see you flying through the next wall but this place is dilapitated enough. Too bad." Poni flipped onto the ground, wobbling like a jelly from the hi-speed dodging. With that, she used Scald and regurgitated a blast of hot water at said Grimer, sure to inflict a Burn and making it easier to Snag.
Lulu stepped back, not wanting to seem too eager to battle. She wanted the peon to see her as a weak girl with a powerful Pokemon.
"Salvador, Faint attack the pokemon!" She looked the peon in the eye. "Leave now. Don't let your leg be permanently harmed because of your pride. Even if you stay, I will never let you take my Salvador!"
Lulu hoped this would enrage and intrigue the peon just enough to make Salvador a target. She hoped that when he was acting on revenge, he would make some foolish blunder. Keep your mind on the battle at hand. You can make enemies later.
A small girl ran towards the lab, her long legs easily covering lots of distance. Despite how far she had already ran, she wasn't tired, and felt like she could run forever. For the last couple of months she had trained in her house, waiting for the moment she could help tackle the Shadow pokemon, and destroy these cruel-hearted people that would close a pokemon's heart in the first place. Just thinking about it made Raine's fists shake, and she picked up her pace a bit. She was sure she was late, positive. Her backpack hit against her back in rhythm with her long strides, then finally, the girl reached a lab. Voices could be heard from inside, and not good ones. Looking through a crack in the door, Raine could see battling, peons already there and fighting with what must be the other volunteers. 'Oh no they don't!' Raine thought, and grabbed a pokeball from her belt. Quickly she released a small Cyndaquil, who seemed to understad what was going on already. It nodded, flaring up the fire on it's back, and Raine tried to open the door.
No luck. The peons must have locked it going in, although most likely by accident since not many of them were too bright. Quickly looking down the side of the lab, she decided there was no other easier way to get in. She took a deep breathe, and kicked the door hard, flinging it open. Immediately, Cyndaquil ran through, letting loose a battle cry, Raine following just split seconds later. "Get lost you nasty peons!" she yelled, as her Cyndaquil let off a quick ember to a nearby one who was bent over, draping something over his leg. Raine looked around at the scene, there seemed to be enough volunteers here that the peons wouldn't be a huge problem, but if the volunteers had no battling experience, it could be a problem.
"Why, isn't this a nice party to enjoy. Don't you think so, Lily?" The teenager that walked into the lab was a curious sight to say at least. The most notable thing about his appearance was without a doubt the black top hat that on his chocolate coloured hair, that made him look even taller than he already was with his 1.87 meters. It was graced with a feather, that was half black, half white, and a playing card, namely the seven of diamonds. His face showed quite peculiar features: the tan, almost arabian skin colour mismatched with the big green eyes that were surrounded by many long lashes and the right one of these eyes had a black square painted over the nearby skin; his mouth, that seemed to be a bit too big for his face, was carried by thin lips and his nose was a little bit turned up. The man's distinct cheekbones lead to ears that were pointier then they should be. Even though the face seemed to be almost perfectly symmetrical, the teenager's strange looks made him doubtfully unhandsome. His name was Ruit and a magician he was.
It was the little girl that clung to his arm that he had talked to, Lily she was called. Lily looked like she was about four years old, with her long, curly red hair tied up in a ponytail. She definitely didn’t look as if she enjoyed the ‘party’, as Ruit had called it and looked around with big, innocent eyes, which colors were nearly identical to the ones of the magician whose hand she gripped on even tighter. The little girl didn’t answer him.
The two of them stood a few meters away from the fight, not wanting to get involved. While Lily was obviously more interested in the fight, Ruit looked around to see the other people that had answered the request. Seeing that there were already quite a few people from around his age there, he assumed that he had been late. ‘Oh, well. Punctuality has never been my strongest point.’ Actually, it was, considering he was a magician. He just didn’t care much about it when it came to things not related to magic. Lily seemed to be intimidated by a dark Absol and Scyther that were fighting which each other. They made her feel uncomfortable.
 "Behave." Felix found himself spitting the command at his own Pokemon as the two were approached by a shifty man in tell all uniform. Though his order was stated with the intention of keeping the Absol calm, his one tone with which he spoke hardly came across as soothing. The young boy was seething. He didn't think he would be having to deal with confrontations like this, this early on, or preferably not at all. Not that he was under the intention or anything that this whole ordeal will blow over with some peaceful protests, but it was regrettable that the only thing he had to fight with was that which he was protecting. The enemy's approach continued; it was clear Finian was not backing down at this point, the Dark typed Pokemon's fur standing on end in the places were it was short enough to maintain such visible height. The Cipher boss hardly seemed interested in Felix for that matter, split second decisioning dictating the mentioned boy's actions as he was forced to step up and between the antagonizing man before him and his own Absol. If left any longer the Cipher Boss may not have even had a face to speak with; Felix's assumption affirmed by a sharp pain coursing through the back of his leg. Just as he had butted in himself, apparently Finian had his own agenda and was rearing to bite at his target. Fortunately for the Cipher, Felix had gotten in the center of things in time, however the same couldn't be said for Felix's pants which now adorned a set of puncture marks which he would have to work on patching up later, the ever so slightest sign of coppery red blood peeking from the holes and mixing in with the already orangish-red fabric. Finian quickly retreated his maw once he had realized what he had done by accident of course; the Disaster Pokemon bowing his head as he stood behind the figure of his master in shame. Though in pain, Felix, however, was not in the mood for reprimanding his friend in the slightest; from long hours spent slowly gaining the trust of the Absol this wasn't his first bite wound anyway. "Finian is more than capable of fighting under his own will, but we work together when we have to." The boy choked out with a disgusted tone to his voice as he corrected the crook who previously spoke at him, insinuating that he used his Pokemon as tools over the living beings that they were. Also he included the fact that he had given his Absol a name; a sign of individuality which was surely more than anything the soulless Scyther that stood before him had. A Bug type, eh? Felix admired many of the like for their beauty but this was definitely not one of his favorites. For that matter it is also worth mentioning that he had plenty of time in training Grass types of his own back in Kanto while working under the gym leader Erika. He knew a majority of insects such as this one in front of him inside and out from his misfortune past experiences against them. It was rather apparent though that he was already at a type disadvantage nonetheless and it would be best for him to end this quickly before the heavily armored bug could get in a move. "Thunder, if you would." Looking more in their fortune was the fact that Finian had quite the peculiar moveset for his species from what Felix had an understanding of thus far. Though the Absol knew many tricks there were only a few he seemed willing to utilize at this step in their relations. As it seemed it was likely he earned such an attack like this from whatever his parents were; one could say this specific Pokemon was made to fight with surprises over what one would normally expect out of his movepool. Finian's fur began to crackle with electricity as he seen no reason in disobeying his master's orders at this point. If anything they were on the same wavelength and the Disaster Pokemon was already aching to make a move long before Felix spoke up. Once enough energy was stored up the Thunder attack flew from Finian's body and took the heighest point it could in the room, collecting in a ball of plasma on the ceiling before crashing down directly over the recently released Scyther. Finian knew well enough by his trainer's earlier protective actions that the one thing he wanted out of him was for him not to attack the opposing trainer, despite how evil the Cipher employee obviously was. For the moment he remained in the right of mind to respect as much and keep his attack from at all landing on the human enemy.
Akito figured that the boss peon ignoring her must have been a good thing; the lady in the labcoat with a bun beckoned her over. "Alright, coming," she told her, inching around the Cipher man and trying not to disturb him, however much she wanted to. Ran followed, still shaken by the large size and appearance, as well as menacing tone of the adult, and clung to her trainer like fresh moss on a tree. Akito gave her Piplup a reassuring pat on the head--the man wasn't after her, after all, though he probably would be later. But that was a matter for the future.
"What did you need me for?"
@dracoon - Snapping out of his hypnosis-caused drowsiness, the Cipher Peon was shocked at the words coming out of that girl's mouth. Fight a Gengar? Surely she was joking... Though she certainly seemed pretty serious. "No, don't lose your nerve now!" he thought."She's just a girl. You can take her no problem." His attempts at reassuring himself didn't work very well. Her Poliwag had already started wailing on his Grimer without even being given a command. Those two must be very close. "Don't take that, Grimer! Use Shadow Down, and follow up with a Sludge attack!" The Grimer cringed at being hit by the scalding hot water, but he managed to escape the attack without being permanently burned. He retaliated by using Shadow Down, causing a sharp drop in the Poliwag's defense. He then spat a bunch of dark brown sludge at his opponent, hoping to cover it in toxic goo.
@shadow and @Faithfully - The Peon cringed both mentally and physically. Mentally because of his boss' harsh words and physically because there was still poison slowly cursing through his veins. He couldn't stay any longer; he had to leave and get treatment for his leg. I mean, his job was important and all, but he certainly wasn't committed enough to lose a leg over it. He watched as the Cacnea tried to Faint Attack his Meinfoo, who easily saw through the feint and dodged the real attack. It was foolish to try and trick Mienfoo like that. When her mind was focused, such tricks looked like child's play.
Just then, he got hit in the backside with what felt like a fireball. The Peon began to run around like a fool, trying to put it out. "Hothothothot!" he yelped. After finally managing to stop the flames, he made a beeline for the main entrance. "Screw this! I didn't come here to get beat up by some kids. Mienfoo, come on!" He tried to recall his pokemon, but for some reason it wasn't working. The Mienfoo remained in it's place in front of Salvador, refusing to flee from battle. It was an honourable pokemon, not coward like it's master. "Fine! I don't need you anyway. I can easily get a new pokemon even better than you." With that, he ran a little ways to their truck, got in, and fled the scene. Meanwhile, Mienfoo cloaked itself in a shadowy aura and lunged forward to tackle it's opponent. (Shadow Blitz)
@KW - The ball of electrical energy came crashing down towards the Scyther at an incredible speed. Fortunately, the bug/flying type was very nimble and managed to dodge out of the way of a direct hit. The Thunder attack grazed the side of its leg, creating a painful looking burn there. Scyther cringed at the pain and began to hover a couple inches above the ground, so as to not put pressure on the injury. "What an interesting move for an Absol... the Boss commented. "I certainly didn't expect an electric attack from you. Oh well, it's no matter. Scyther, use Shadow Mist, followed by X-Scissor." The Mantis Pokemon covered the foe in a dark mist, cutting its evasiveness. Once it reached Finian, it slashed its two arm blades outwards, aiming at the Absol.
@starberry - "Oh, good. I'm so glad you're here." The woman in pink smiled down at the girl. "I'm Lily, by the way. Listen, since you're not engaged in a battle with one of those Peons, I was wondering if you could help me out." Lily reached down and got out a large box that had been under the reception desk. Opening it, she revealed a bunch of strange-looking devices. "This here is a Snag Machine," Lily said, holding out a metal glove with a glowing blue light in the centre. "And this is an Aura Reader," she noted again, this time holding out a small little earpiece. Lily explained how to install the Snag Machine on one's left shoulder and hand, along with how to clip the Aura Reader around one's ear. "These will help the others finish their battles more quickly. If you could help me distribute them, that would be wonderful. I would have done this already, but I really need to find Professor Krane. He seems to have disappeared farther into the lab." Lily looked around, wondering where he might have gone off to.
By now she had noticed three more children had come into the building. (@Faithfully, @Mijaafa) A girl, a boy, and another girl who seemed the be the boy's little sister. Although something was a bit strange about the young one... Nevertheless, she beckoned them over. "Maybe these children can help you distribute the machines. Now, I really must go find the Professor. Good luck!"
Poni was left wide open and was struck, her Defense sharply reduced. She clenched her fists, the omnious crunching of the mechanical fingers digging into more metal parallel to her emotions now. "Poni," The Poliwag skidded across the slippery floor, her slime making her whiz in all directions and she did a barrel roll to dodge the Sludge attack. Though, her tail was slightly singed and the Poliwag lifted a foot up to examine the damages. She made an angry noise, her Sassy nature taking over and blasting a Ice Beam at the Grimer. Poni could tolerate the Grimer because Linda said the Grimer didn't have control of its emotions but burning her tail? No tolerance. The blue sphere formed in front of the Poliwag and sent beautiful sparks of icy bolts straight at the Grimer, hopefully being able to Freeze it.
